Why is rent so cheap in Buffalo New York? It looks like a nice city with cool weather. I looked online and it said the average house goes for $100,000!!! That is so cheap. I was looking on Craigslist and was finding three bedoom apartments for around $500. That is amazing. What's the deal?
Skeptical Graduate Student Relocation to NEW YORK CITY? I am a recent graduate with a master's in architecture from Arizona State University. I have always dreamt of living and working in NYC, Manhattan (not Brooklyn) but after talking to some locals and looking at apartments on Craigslist, I am skeptical about making the move. A typical architect's entry salary is $60,000 in Manhattan and this can be seen as high????? Is this enough to get a tiny studio or do you have to get a roommate? What is the typical percentage that goes to rent? I am trying to be realistic? Should I do it?
Where to look for house rentals in three village area (new york)? My kids don't want to move from the Three Village School District so i decided to look for house rentals around this region. I already checked craigslist, backpages, realtor, and rent websties.
Are "Free oil tank removal" ads on Craigslist legit? I have an old above ground oil tank in my basement, along with an old oil burner and oil hot water heater, and a washer/dryer. The oil tank is empty, except maybe for some sediment and/or sludge at the bottom. I am converting to natural gas heat. I want to save as much money as I can. I saw a few ads on Craigslist (New York City-area) for guys saying they'd take all of this junk away for free. Are these ads legit? Can these guys be trusted to remove the oil tank safely? Will they just cut up all the pipes that connect everything and leave me with major plumbing repairs? How do they prevent any possible leaks of sludge and/or sediment? Has anyone used one of these guys? Any details on your own experience with these kinds of guys would be really appreciated and helpful. Thanks!

Which area is the best area to live in Manhattan, New York City? I’m an artist & I can see my future is in NY; I love to move there. I am alone and I can manage to live even in a studio apartment or share with somebody and I can pay up to $2700 a month. I went true http://newyork.craigslist.org/ and some other websites; I looked at so many apartments in Manhattan but could not find even 1 nice apartment, studio or even a room to share. By nice accommodation I mean somewhere, which is quite new (max 10 years old building) and clean with out any pets or bad smell. As u know, Manhattan has so many different parts (except HARLEM) such as: Battery Park Chelsea Downtown East Village Financial District Flatiron Gramercy Greenwich Village Inwood / Wash Hts Lower East Side Midtown Midtown East Midtown West Murray Hill) Nolita SoHo TriBeCa Union Square Upper East Side Upper West Side West Village Which area has more new buildings, less crime and nicer neighborhoods? Or how can I find a nice accommodation in Manhattan? Tanx - Paris

low income housing in new york? I am trying to move into an apartment in Brooklyn , or Manhattan, you always hear about these low income housing, but it seems impossible for me to find them. Does anyone have any legit sites or directories that actually help you to get into a decent apartment in the city, or any info at all if you know someone who is renting out their apartment. I didnt think it would be this hard trying to start out living independently. I tried craigslist.org, but there are people who stay by the computer all day, to the point it is always too late when you try to respond to the listings because 100 people already beat you to it.

Temporary Housing (weekly) in New York? I have family coming over to New York during x-mas. They need a place to stay for about 2 weeks since my small studio apartment in Nassau is not going to be able to host them. Where can I look for temporary rentals by the week or by the month? Please don't suggest www.craigslist.com since I already know that and wouldn't be asking this question if craigslist can resolve my question.
Moving To New York CITY!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!? I am 25 year old single mother relocating from Orlando to New York City. I will be xfering my job up there, I also have an internship and a better opportunity to become a publicist or work in public relations. There are so many reasons why NYC would not only be better for me and my career, but for my daughter being closer to her father. I am not only bored with Orlando, but i think Orlando is making me lazy and i'm starting to slip into a state of nothingness, where all i do is work and come home. I love the diverse culture of NYC, the only thing i am a little weary about is the cost of living. Where can i find a reasonably price apartment to rent. (Not Craigslist- has too many scam artist claiming to have CENTRAL PARK apartments for 700 a month.) I have a car also. Has anybody made a transition from somewhere rural to the big city? What steps should i take?
Can cheap apartments still be found in New York City? Hi all, I am looking for a apartment in New York City. Can anyone let me know of any resources to help me look for one? (Other than craigslist???) I would rather not go the broker route if I don't have too. Right now I am looking to spend anywhere from $800-$1,100 a month on rent and utlities. I am looking for either a one bedroom apartment or a large studio. Let me know! Thanks! :)

Can I post more then one ad on craigslist? Hi, I want to post the same listing on multiple locations (states) (example: New York, Texas, Florida, etc..) Cheap place to stay in New York, Boston, San Francisco? I see a lot of people looking for cheap places to stay here. Has anyone checked out www.istopover.com yet? You can find really cheap accommodation by renting out spare rooms from home owners, and it seems a lot safer than craigslist.
post jobs in new york for free? What are the top websites that would allow me to post jobs up for free? and f.y.i. craigslist.com IS NO LONGER FREE, so please dont answer with that.
Posting/Listing on craigslist? I was wondering if you HAD to post in your own location when listing an item on craiglist? What I mean is, if I live in New York, could I still make a listing in the Vancouver, Canada area of craigslist? Or use a different country/region available on craigslist, instead of New York? The thing is, I have a few items I want to sell, but I'm only looking to SHIP them anyway, so I wanted to know if I MUST list in the New York area? Also, if you make multiple listings of different items using the same email, can you list in multiple locations, either domestically or internationally, or must you stay in one location/region?
Red Hook / Greenpoint in Brooklyn New York? any warehouse/housing type rentals? what's a site other than Craigslist that would have listed "unfinished" warehouse type spaces that could be converted into housing/artist studios?
New York City rentals? I am looking for warehouse rentals in NYC to use as artist studio space. Other than craigslist - any recommendations? Where is cheap whse space around a $1/s.f. range for spaces up to about 2000 s.f.? Either spaces are way too small for the $ or way too large!
Finding a good apartment "affordably" in New York City: What are the new secrets? Here's the thing. I've spent literally hours with the Times and The Daily News real estate sections online. I have run every scenario imaginable in both rentals and sales and the results are abysmally depressing...and I'm not just talking about the city. When I moved the search into Jersey and CT, things improved, but not enough to justify the commute. It seems like the right combination of decent neighborhood, convenience, large enough apartment/house/whatever (I have a family), well-kept, and BROADLY AFFORDABLE (I hope you know what I mean by this) just seems not to exist. I am beginning to get the distinct impression that as I've moved into middle age, I'm behind the curve somehow, and there is a new way this is done that I am just not in the know about. Craigslist is not a good answer as it's full of more scams than real apartments and it's almost impossible without clicking on every listing to separate actual unfurnished rentals from shares. Nofeerentalbyowner.com is a very good site but they have no pictures so there is no way to judge if the units are really worth the good prices at which they rent them. I've heard a few people, most on sitcoms and such making the claim questionable, claim that the obits are a good place to look, but I've never seen one actually list the address of the deceased (can you imagine?: Mr. Peters leaves behind a wife, four children, and a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom, pre-war second story walk-up in Park Slope which rents for approximately $1450 per month. For information please go to (&)* 7th Avenue and ask for Vito). Someone tell me something really innovative, a very well-kept secret, that others know and I don't. This cannot really be the market. Thanks. Can you recommend one?
Why are there so many racists on yahoo answers? I mean they get banned everyday and still come back can't these people get a life. There are racists of all colors on here, this is only rivaled by the New York City Craigslist Rants and Raves page.
Need somewhere cheap to stay in New York (or area) for 3-4 months. Suggestions? I plan on doing an internship in New York City-area for 3-4 starting at the end of May and will be there, more than likely, until the end of August. I need somewhere to stay, but can only go $650/month max. Is this even possible? What are some areas relatively close? Other suggestions? I already looked into hostels and it's just not cost-efficient for me. I tried looking on Craigslist for temporary housing/sublets but it's too early to get a good idea.

California VS New York-Expensive? Both California and New york are Expensive-What do you think In California especially the bay area-A NICE Stuido apt would cost 1100-1200$,You can find a deal on craigslist for $750-$800.+ you need a car to get around thats easily atleast $100 a mont-that is if you buy an old car-money down.-So youre spedning MINIMUM-$900 In New York you can find a cheap apartment in queens,brooklyn-studio for $900-$1000.But you dont need a car-you just need a $70 bus pass that will get you unlimited rides on the bus and the subway. So what do you think???. New york is really not that expensive compared to Califronia. But it is expensive from someone moving from say Kansas,Vegas. But people moving from California shouldnt find NYC Expensive-Right? What do you think???
Photoghraphy Internship in New York? I've recently moved to NYC and am an aspiring photographer. I thought I'd try to find work assisting photographers, but no one seems to want to hire me without having assisted here in new york. Desperately wanting to get in the game and at least be exposed to the industry and meet people, I've decided to try to find an internship here in NYC and have answered some ads here on craigslist, but havent gotten any response, figuring about a hundred other people have applied for the same position. My question is....anyone know how I can get a photography internship here in NYC besides just looking at craigslist? Or any ideas how I can get into the industry here? I like this city but am finding it quite a hard place to get my foot in the door. Thanks a lot! :)

How much is a 1 or 2 bedroom in New York City? I'm looking into moving to New York City and have been looking at apartments on craigslist.org. So far it looks like apartments are usually around $850-$1300 around Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Harlem. Is this a realistic price or should it be higher? Where else can I look for apartments, as in what cities, and websites? Also, just curious, Is Harlem part of Manhattan?
Has anyone in New York used a service called No Fee Rental By Owner. If so, how was your experience with them. I am getting ready to move from Manhattan to Brooklyn and I do not want to pay a fee like I did when I first moved here. I have been checking Craigslist and then I saw this service called No fee Rental by owner. Basically, they provide you a list of current vacancies and the phone number for the super/building owners. I am just wondering if anyone has used this service and if so, are they legit? Does anyone have any other recommendations?
How can I trust people on Craigslist to rent a room from?? I plan to move to New York this upcoming year, possibly around February. I live in Florida and the only way I can afford to move to New York is if I get a roommate. And I always look online and find great deals and (it seems) like cool people renting them out, but how can I trust that they are legitmate? I would hate to send a deposit in the mail and get nothing out of it. Any tips in being able to spot people taking advantage of renters? Thanks!!
