Are "Free oil tank removal" ads on Craigslist legit? I have an old above ground oil tank in my basement, along with an old oil burner and oil hot water heater, and a washer/dryer. Finding a good apartment "affordably" in New York City: What are the new secrets? Here's the thing. I've spent literally hours with the Times and The Daily News real estate sections online. I have run every scenario imaginable in both rentals and sales and the results are abysmally depressing...and I'm not just talking about the city. When I moved the search into Jersey and CT, things improved, but not enough to justify the commute. It seems like the right combination of decent neighborhood, convenience, large enough apartment/house/whatever (I have a family), well-kept, and BROADLY AFFORDABLE (I hope you know what I mean by this) just seems not to exist. I am beginning to get the distinct impression that as I've moved into middle age, I'm behind the curve somehow, and there is a new way this is done that I am just not in the know about. Craigslist is not a good answer as it's full of more scams than real apartments and it's almost impossible without clicking on every listing to separate actual unfurnished rentals from shares. Nofeerentalbyowner.com is a very good site but they have no pictures so there is no way to judge if the units are really worth the good prices at which they rent them. I've heard a few people, most on sitcoms and such making the claim questionable, claim that the obits are a good place to look, but I've never seen one actually list the address of the deceased (can you imagine?: Mr. Peters leaves behind a wife, four children, and a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom, pre-war second story walk-up in Park Slope which rents for approximately $1450 per month. Why are there so many racists on yahoo answers? I mean they get banned everyday and still come back can't these people get a life. There are racists of all colors on here, this is only rivaled by the New York City Craigslist Rants and Raves page.
Need somewhere cheap to stay in New York (or area) for 3-4 months. Suggestions? I plan on doing an internship in New York City-area for 3-4 starting at the end of May and will be there, more than likely, until the end of August. I need somewhere to stay, but can only go $650/month max. Is this even possible? What are some areas relatively close? Other suggestions? I already looked into hostels and it's just not cost-efficient for me. I tried looking on Craigslist for temporary housing/sublets but it's too early to get a good idea.
Best website to buy a used bicycle (New York City area)? I've found plenty of bikes on craigslist and on ebay but haven't found anything that is exactly what I want (a nearly new mid-range hybrid - unsure on brand- for my wife who stands 5'7'). Where to look for a room to rent in New York City !? hey there yahoos , i can't stay upstate any longer. so i decided to move into the city. the problem is I can't seem to find any good websites to help me along this decision i took. i heard about craigslist.org , and i been looking on it for some time now. but all the listings are limited i m just looking for one bedroom ( fine i'll share bathroom nd kitchen ) . California VS New York-Expensive? Both California and New york are Expensive-What do you think In California especially the bay area-A NICE Stuido apt would cost 1100-1200$,You can find a deal on craigslist for $750-$800.+ you need a car to get around thats easily atleast $100 a mont-that is if you buy an old car-money down.-So youre spedning MINIMUM-$900 In New York you can find a cheap apartment in queens,brooklyn-studio for $900-$1000.But you dont need a car-you just need a $70 bus pass that will get you unlimited rides on the bus and the subway. New york is really not that expensive compared to Califronia.But it is expensive from someone moving from say Kansas,Vegas.But people moving from California shouldnt find NYC Expensive-Right? Photoghraphy Internship in New York? I've recently moved to NYC and am an aspiring photographer. I thought I'd try to find work assisting photographers, but no one seems to want to hire me without having assisted here in new york. Desperately wanting to get in the game and at least be exposed to the industry and meet people, I've decided to try to find an internship here in NYC and have answered some ads here on craigslist, but havent gotten any response, figuring about a hundred other people have applied for the same position. My question is....anyone know how I can get a photography internship here in NYC besides just looking at craigslist? Or any ideas how I can get into the industry here? How much is a 1 or 2 bedroom in New York City? I'm looking into moving to New York City and have been looking at apartments on craigslist.org. So far it looks like apartments are usually around $850-$1300 around Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Harlem. Is this a realistic price or should it be higher? Where else can I look for apartments, as in what cities, and websites? Also, just curious, Is Harlem part of Manhattan?
Has anyone in New York used a service called No Fee Rental By Owner. If so, how was your experience with them. I am getting ready to move from Manhattan to Brooklyn and I do not want to pay a fee like I did when I first moved here. I have been checking Craigslist and then I saw this service called No fee Rental by owner. Basically, they provide you a list of current vacancies and the phone number for the super/building owners. I am just wondering if anyone has used this service and if so, are they legit? Does anyone have any other recommendations?
How can I trust people on Craigslist to rent a room from?? I plan to move to New York this upcoming year, possibly around February. I live in Florida and the only way I can afford to move to New York is if I get a roommate. And I always look online and find great deals and (it seems) like cool people renting them out, but how can I trust that they are legitmate?
