What kind of equipment would I need to disc jockey at a wedding? I'm interested in becoming a wedding disc jockey. I do not have any DJ'ing experience, but would like to get into the business. I have a good ear for music (dating from the 80s-present), I listen to many classics that I can imagine myself hearing at a wedding and dancing to, etc etc. But more importantly, what kind of equipment do I need to get started? At a recent wedding when I actually paid attention to the DJ, I noticed that he was working off of his Mac; no turntables or anything. Other than supplying and playing music, and the occasional talking on mic to interact with the crowd, what would a wedding DJ be responsible for? Lighting? Providing speakers? I'd like to keep it simplistic and go with the laptop-for-music route. I'd plan on putting the hours into compiling a playlist that's suitable for the crowd's demographic, along with a lot of back-up material to get the crowd going if things get dull. Guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!
What are some really good wedding dj's in Raleigh, NC? What are some top wedding disc jockeys for the Raleigh/Triangle NC area?
what are inexpensive effective ways to advertise a disc jockey business? My husband has a dj business and it's growing but we just spent $5,000 in advertising at wedding shows so I'm wondering if people might know more advertising methods that are effective and don't cost a lto. Besides these ones craigslist, newspaper and stuff. Any good answers?
Does anyone know a baker, disc jockey, and a florist in the Lexington KY area? I'm planning my wedding and I'm having a hard time finding good vendors for my wedding next summer. All of my friends and co-workers suggest people and companies that are outrageously priced. I need someone who will do a great job and not cost me an arm and a leg.

Why is my husband taking pictures of other women? We have been married for 5 years, together for 9........My husband is a Wedding Disc Jockey. I have recently found that while at a few of his weddings he has taken pictures of other women...ass, boobs, feet......... Taking our son to baseball games hes taken pics of other women......While on a school trip with our son taking pics of his teacher......I found the pictures on his computer and deleted them---he got pissed and now password protected his computer and told me he loves me, he's sorry, he'd die for me etc... and to trust him. Does a password constitute trust? He told me he did nothing wrong and didnt know why I was so upsetWe have a healthy sex life we both enjoy pics, toys etc... there is not too much we havent explored together. He does enjoy movies (seemingly when Im not around) Weve made movies, taken pictures of eachother, purchased toys..............???? Because we have had such healthy sex explortations with eachother I feel very violated....am I over reacting? FYI---My Husband is a DJ not a Photographer!

Preparing an income statement, owner's equity and balance sheet? served as a disc jockey for a wedding party. The father of the bride agreed to pay $1350 the 1st of July.
A Wedding Dice???? When I went to my neices's wedding, there was a big red dice on the dance floor, some sides were blank and some sides had pictures of lips on it. The object was instead of people clinking on glasses to get the bride and groom to kiss, they would roll the dice instead and if the lips came up they would have to kiss. Her disc jockey provided the dice, so I have no idea where you would get one. My nephew is getting married and I would like to be able to get one of these dice for them for the wedding. Does anyone know where I would get something like this in the Toronto area?

dj contract broken...can i get sued? one week before a wedding i met with a disc jockey to write out a music contract. we agreed the set up was for 5PM and 7PM to 11PM was for the dance SO, the day comes, the reception started and NO DJ...it was 5:30 we noticed he wasnt set up he called @6:30 He said that his equiptment & cds were stolen and was about 10min away. He did not show up until 7:15pm he set up and played @8:15pm. the music was wrong and he didnt play any requested music...not even the first dance as hus & wife. he didnt talk to me @ all!!! By the time he started playing half our guests left. He continued until 920pm at the time we told him to leave and did not pay him for his time other then the $50 down payment Can he sue me for the money that i owe him for the hour he played eventhough it was the wrong music and he was late?
Legal Document Question? I am a Mobile Disc Jockey and offer services throughout Ohio. Many of my clients such as brides are out of state planning their wedding to come home (to ohio where I am) because of their familiy, so they have to sign and fax back the contract for our services. Since it is a copy of their signature and not their original signature is this legal? (meaning if I ever went to court would this be a valid document?) or must I have the original? I know it's always nice to have the original but sometimes is not possible.
I have to have an ovarian cyst, ovary and tube removed on Tues. & need to work on Saturday...Help!!? I have an ovarian cyst on my right ovary and my doctor want to remove the cyst, ovary and tube. The surgery is set for Tuesday the 11th. The problem is my husband and I are professional disc jockeys and have a wedding reception on Saturday that is about 4 hours away. My family is driving me crazy saying there is no way I can do this. Has anyone out there that has had this done (not know of someone)? How long did it take to recover? My husband is going to do all the setting of the equipment up...All I will be doing is the playing of the music. I know of all the chances of infection. Can you tell me what to expect after I have this done?? Kind of worried!! Thanks to all... I also have put a call in to my Dr. about my situation.
DJ or Flute and Cello? I am looking to have a winter wedding in a small venue with only 50 guests at the reception. I'm not to much on DJ's but when I think about it, I like a lot of songs that I can dance to. But the hall is going to be tiny, so a Disc Jockey would probably be too loud and obnoxious. And I like classical (I myself play the flute), and I know someone who would probably give me a nice discount if I hired her for our wedding. What's your opinion on having classical music at a wedding? How often is it done?

Could this be considered defamation of character? Someone posted a "youtube" video of their face book page of a DJ slapping a woman's ta-ta's (at a wedding reception) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZP4Ugev82I. These are comments made under the video (on Facebook) ~person 1: I'm running on an hour and a half of sleep and this still made my day lmfao. ~person 2: OMG!!!! Looks like this one woman I know....she takes "professional" pics....Lmfao, really does look like her!! ~person 1: OMG was that shit funny as hell or what. I told (wife/name) to watch it. Thats the last thing i would have ever thought was gonna happen lmmfao bahahaha!! ~person 2: I know! That's freakin hilarious!! ~person 1: Def a must watch..I've watched it a thousand times it never gets old lmao. ***************************************************************************************************************** Here's my concern. I am the person in the conversation they refer to that takes "professional" pics. I do resemble the woman on the stage. But I would NEVER allow someone to degrade me in such a way as the DJ did. I am fearful that the 330+ friends of the two having the conversation will read these comments and see this video thinking it is me. I know that my name is not mentioned but these two people post every minute of their day on fb for the world to see. Neither have blocked walls by the way. And to top it off, ~person 1 is Active duty military along with being a well know Disc Jockey in the local area with a very big fan base. I am afraid that the comments made will give people a negative portrayal of me. The video itself is very distasteful. Can this be considered defamation of character? What are the laws about this kind of thing? Should I report this to facebook or contact the leadership of the military member? Any advice?

Travis Barker, DJ AM horribly disfigured? AUGUSTA, Ga. - Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and celebrity disc jockey DJ AM are expected not to recover from burns they suffered in a fiery South Carolina jet crash that killed the other four people aboard, one of their doctors said Sunday. Dr. Fred Mullins, medical director of the Joseph M. Still Burn Center, said the two suffered Fifth and Soxth-degree burns and had many orther complixations and other injuries from the crash that one witness described as a fireball shooting across a highway. "Anybody who can survive a plane crash is pretty lucky," Mullins told reporters during a news conference Sunday morning. Barker was burned over his entire face and lower body and DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, was burned on his entire body, according to a statement from the musicians' families released by the hospital. Mullins declined to discuss specific recovery times for the men, but said such injuries will never heal and either man could expire at anytime. Both men are still in very critical condition, he said. The Learjet crashed late Friday night shortly after taking off from an airport in Columbia, where the men had just performed a concert for thousands of college students. The plane's two-person crew and a pair of the musicians' staff members — also their close friends — were killed. As the plane was departing, air traffic controllers reported seeing sparks, officials said. The plane hurtled off the end of a runway and came to rest a quarter-mile away on an embankment across a five-lane highway, engulfed in flames. One witness said he was driving when a fireball streaked across the highway about 600 feet ahead of him. William Owens said he approached to see the two survivors frantically trying to remove their burning clothes. "I noticed two guys who were on fire and it looked like a dance: They didn't know what to do," said Owens, a 60-year-old delivery van driver. Goldstein had stripped off his own shirt and was helping Barker strip naked, said Owens, who was able to identify the men Saturday night because of news reports that showed Barker's extensive tattoos. Owens said Goldstein told him four other people were on board the jet, but the flames were too intense to get close. "'Oh my God' was all they were saying," Owens said of Barker and Goldstein. "They stood there and it's like — didn't know what to do. None of us did." Several fans visited the hospital over the weekend. One carried a sign that read: "Get Well Travis." "I was just shocked when I first heard it and I knew that I had to do something," said Ryan Meadows, a 19-year-old college student from Augusta. Two other passengers — Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City, Calif., and Charles Still, 25, of Los Angeles — died, as did pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills, Calif., and co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad, Calif., according to the county coroner. Baker was an assistant to Barker and Still was a security guard for the musician. "The families wish to thank fans from all over the world for their prayers and concern. Deepest sympathy is expressed to the loved ones of those who perished in the crash," said the statement from the musicians' families. The plane was headed for Van Nuys, Calif. It is owned by Global Exec Aviation, a California-based charter company, and was certified to operate last year, said National Transportation Safety Board member Debbie Hersman. A longtime friend of the co-pilot said Bland flew anti-smuggling missions 20 years for the U.S. Customs Service and flew missions for the Santa Ana Police Department in California and U.S. Border Patrol. "He was such an experienced pilot, it had to be something beyond their control," said Tim Ferrill, a Huntington Beach, Calif., pilot. "He was an absolutely meticulous pilot, very thorough and not a risk-taker at all." Barker and Goldstein had performed together under the name TRVSDJ-AM at a free concert in Columbia on Friday night. The show, which included performances by former Jane's Addiction singer Perry Farrell and singer Gavin DeGraw, drew about 10,000 people to a neighborhood near the University of South Carolina. Barker, 32, was one of the more colorful members of the multiplatinum-selling punk rock band Blink-182, whose biggest album was 1999's CD "Enema of the State" and sold more than 5 million copies in the United States alone. After Blink-182 disbanded in 2005, Barker went on to form the rock band (+44) — pronounced "plus forty-four." He also starred in the MTV reality series "Meet the Barkers" with his then-wife, former Miss USA Shanna Moakler. The show documented the former couple's lavish wedding and home life. Their later split, reconciliation and subsequent breakup made them tabloid favorites. Goldstein, 35, is a popular DJ for hire who at one time was engaged to Nicole Richie and dated singer/actress Mandy Moore. While he became a gossip favorite for his romances, he draws resp
