Dj ( Disc Jockey) with one Deck using software: can it be done? This is a question for DJ's who use CDJ's or CD-Dj equipment. I was considering buying some decks to retrain my ears for DJing, its been a while so i'm a bit rusty ( i was a vinyl guy). But i want to do this for minimal cost so i was considering the Numarkx NDX 400's read the reviews they do pretty much the same as generic CDJ ( which i do have access to for an hour or so per week) drifting... I wanted to buy one deck to save money and hook that deck up to some software which would allow that one deck to act as two decks, so essentially what i wanted was a package that consisted of: 1-Numark NDX 400 2-a mixer ( which i already own) 3-software which i can download onto my mac that does what i said. The trouble is i don't know if this is possible ( the one deck acting as two thing) can somebody advise me on how to proceed. Thanks for your help

which laptop is suitable? i am a disk jockey ( dj ) planning to buy a laptop. i will be using virtual dj software to play music in the parties. i have a compaq laptop ( 1 gb ram, 180 gb hard disk, windows vista basic.) but my teacher is advicing me to buy an apple laptop ( mc book ) . according to him apple will be more suitable for the task as windows may get hang sometime. so should i buy an apple laptop for better performance or will my compaq laptor will suffice? will my compaq laptop give trouble while playing songs? is apple really goodone for such kind of job job?

What college degree involves DJ mixing? I have been to numerous electronic music festivals and have always really enjoyed this art of music. Mixing every kind of music into a unified sound is just so amazing. I would love to learn everything about the aspects of producing music with DJ mixing and such. My friend just received a mixer and we love messing with it, but I really want to major in something that will further help me with this career, disk jockey mixer.
