how can I become a DJ? I am 16 and a female. Can you go to college for DJing?? I am looking to go to a californian college. DJ AM is my fave DJ, and I was wondering when you DJ like him, do you have to speak to the crowd. What do you exactly have to do? Do you think you have to have a lot of personality to be a club disc jockey?????
Are DJs (Disc Jockeys) basically losers who cannot make it as singers? These days so many fancy DJs with fancy names and perform like they are rockstars at clubs. Quite embarassing when you see the way they dress to shock or make fashion statements. They are basically nobody trying to be somebody.
I would like to take a class to become a DJ...? I would like to become a disc jockey (for clubs, not radios) or at least get my feet wet in the business. are there any courses offered, preferably in connecticut that isn't for a college major, just kinda for fun? thanks!
Any ideas for Bar games? Im a Disc Jockey and do mostly Weddings. I have decided to take on a few bars/clubs during the week for extra work, still leaving my weekends open for Weddings. When I last did a bar/club event I was giving away free drinks using contests like "beer drinking contest", "hot beer (potato)", etc. I'm looking for some other ideas. If you were planning to go to a bar tonight that was giving away free drinks, what kind of contest (game) would you like to see? (Explain in detail).
Do modern disk jockeys that use vinyls have current songs on the vinyl itself? Do club DJs that choose to use vinyls have the songs on the vinyls themselves? If so, where are they sold? If not, how do they mix songs with today's music?
Is it possible for a baseball team to be so bad the owner has to sell the team? My club has been in the crapper for the past 10 years. Worst team in baseball. The owner blames everyone but himself. Local disk jockeys have organized stadium events where disgruntled fans fill a section of the stadium then walk out at the 8th inning. A rookie pitcher shut us out. We were swept at home by the Washington Nationals We've given 30 runs in one game We have had 2 9 game losing streaks They constantlyu fake the attendance records And the 2 stars have all but asked for a 1 way ticket out of Baltimore. Is there any way to force the owners to make the owner sellt he team? Puck there are plenty of people in line to buy the team. Cal Ripken would LOVE to own the O's
Why are the people who make the music called DJs? Refering to electronic genres: Why do the people who MAKE the music call themselves "DJ"s when really the people who mix the music with turntables at clubs and what not are the actual "Disc Jockeys"?
don't you wish you went to the club and the dj still had turntables? i've seen so many "Disc Jockeys" at local spots and isht like that that have two turntables and a laptop, a majority of the night the needles are high and dry and the laptop is pumpin all the beats and everynow and then the dj tries to drop the needle, add some weird flanging low pass filter effect the just bought but don't know how to use and then slide the fader back to the lap top. where are my DJ's? where are my Master's of ceremony? is hip hop dead? are there any passionate dj's still out there? also don't thumbs down people on my questions please. hahaha david your right. any DJ worth a isht usually just makes a studio mix and puts it out. BUT i wish there was still broke ass un heard of DJ's that played at clubs and have actuall skills that would prevent them from being replaced by a laptop

How does a person choose a career path when they don't have any direction in life? I am turning 35 years old next month and have been seriously racking my brain the last few months on what and where to go in my life right now. Which, at the moment, is not where I want to be. Let me explain that in more detail. I came back to Alaska last year from California. I was faced being homeless for the 4th time in California and I did not want to go back to that. Prior to moving to California I had worked 17 years in a local night club. Pretty much doing everything from Janitorial, Disc Jockeying, Bartending, Security. Since I started working there I discovered a lot about myself as a person. A lot in which I did not know back when I was younger. I know the only position I am any good at, ......actually, I should tell it like it is. Since I started working there, I have learned I have a number of disorders. Disorders that make my life fairly interesting being around a large group of people for a long period of time. Among those disorders are ones like Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar, OCD, Panic and very bad Anxiety attacks. Rage disorder, and PTSD. I learned that I do better in smaller crowds and in comfort zones. I have found out, through experience, that if any of my disorders rear their ugly heads. It usually is not a pretty site. Most of the time I keep them to myself. Keep all the symptoms of my disorders from showing up when I'm around anyone. Only problem with that is it only works for me. Meaning, that I'm able to keep myself in check. I'm able to not let it show that I'm OCD, or Bipolar, etc. etc. However, with doing so, i tend to withdraw. With Anxiety attacks all my muscles tense up and after awhile it tends to REALLY start hurting. Yet, i cannot stop cause it is just something that happens. Something I go through. Its kinda like breathing, or eating. Its just happens. No, I do not take meds. Yes, I have taken meds before with no success. And, even if I wanted to take meds, which i dont, I cant afford it due to me being unemployed and living out of an area in one of my old jobs. As I was saying before, that job, the only thing I was really any good at was Disc Jockeying. But, even that had its pitfalls. I've been fired and let go so many times at that job. The owner seriously has a problem with hiring me back. Not because of being out of place or out of line. For the most part, I've been known to just walk right out the front door in the middle of my shift and call in later when I've had a chance to collect myself. My disorders are ruining my life and, most of them, I will live with for the rest of my life. Yet the only thing I can do at this point is look for a method that works for me. To be able to go to school, or find a job to live and take care of myself. Yet, at this time, I have little to no idea of where or what to do. I've been to see counselor after counselor and all they really want is for me to be on meds. Which, I would rather not take. Not to mention, I can't afford to go see any more cousnelor's I feel, that if I'm able to control my weight problem. With exercising and eating healthier. That I will be able to have a better self esteem, more confidence, and, I know this will sound funny to some but, actually be able to wear clothes that employers want me to wear. I would be able to function better and take control of my life I'm living in poverty and I can't seem to find a way out of it. I've been thinking about going to college to get a better education. But with that, I was never really any good at school in the first place back when I was younger. I often scare myself out of following through with placing that call to the college. Yet, at almost 35 years old. What does a man do to be able to support himself. I don't want fame, riches, or material things. All I want is to be able to pay the bills and be able to put food on my table with out having to worry where the next meal is coming from. Living on food stamps and out of food banks really sucks, if you know what I mean. I'm not opposed to going back to school, just scared if I will be able to handle it is all due to my disorders. Lets see here, what are my hobbies and things I'm good at. * I have a good radio dj voice, or as a radio dj for 25 years has told me. In which, I had thought of starting my own Mobile DJ business. Yet, with no money its sorta hard to do that. * I love to sing, and I'm actually good at it, yet I don't really see myself singing as a career choice. Unless maybe, it was as a Christian singer. * I do like to cook, and that was one of the reasons I moved to Cali. I have a knack at making new recipes, and I was looking into going to school for Culinary Arts. But, with my disorders, that would not have been a good choice. * I love to write poetry, and Ive been working on writing enough to make a book, but then again, who knows, maybe Im not that good. I know my last two works have really had some say, Wow! Bout the only thing I coul

BRINGING MY CHARACTERS TO LIFE? HELP? I'm really trying to bring my character to life and make them as realistic as possible. MAIN CHAR: Tegan van Curen Age: 17 Ethnicity: Dutch-Brazilian-American Orientation: Straight Interests: Cosmetics, literature (poetry, novels), earth, cars, fashion traveling, partying. Traits: Is very aesthetic, sees the beauty in other people and other lives, but is pessimistic/negative with her own life, can be very self-conscious, is risk-taking, and is not religious whatsoever. Family/Life: Family is in major debt but somehow hides it, her mother works at a salon, her dad is a professor at a community college, older sister does not talk to family although she's known to be "perfect". CHARACTER #2: Zorah De Ricci Age: 17 Ethnicity: Italian-American Orientation: Bi-sexual Interests: Film-making, tattoo art, Japanese culture, musicians, fashion, abnormal eyes and hair colors. Traits: Very adaptable to new things, open-minded, independent, loyal, willing. Family/Life: Mother doesn't know she is bi-sexual, father died in his office at work (undiagnosed reason), younger brother is a drug addict, older sister is pregnant, and -CONFLICT- tries to tell her mother that she is not straight, and ends up getting pregnant with an old guy-friend. CHARACTER #3: Trey Hummer Age: 17 Ethnicity: English-French-American Orientation: Straight Interests: Wrestling, working out, alcohol, partying, humor (jokes, pranks), architecture. Traits: Is always laughing, is a flirt, seems to be too confident, wants to go to college for Sports Medical science. Family/Life: Parents are divorced, mother is cheating on her boyfriend, younger sister gets sick in the story, lives in an average home in their town, father owns a restaurant. CHARACTER #4: Andrei Carpathia (known as 'Drei' throughout most of the story) Age: 18 Ethnicity: Romanian Orientation: Straight Interests: Music mixing (disc jockeying 'DJ'), city life, clubs, horror movies, Traits: Works at a gym, is attractive, has a hard time staying interested in relationships, only seems to be picky, is truly sophisticated (although it doesn't always show), likes to hear people laugh. So what do you think? They are very much different from each other, although I want to look at them apart for right now, before I begin the writing process. Is there anything I should fix about them? Any flat characters? Anything to add?
I'm so indecisive on where to live. Help me decide? ---I live in NY, presently. I thought I might like to move to somewhere in California, but now I'm not sure. Then I thought maybe Chicago. Or Toronto in Canada. But I'm not sure. ---Then I got SO indecisive that I decided these places might be too expensive to be worth it. I don't know!! So I started thinking maybe Portland, Oregon. But really---I just have no idea! A little background: ---I'm a female in my early 20's ---I DJ for a living, doing bars/clubs and weddings, etc. (I do mostly electro music when i do bars.) So I need to move to a city that has a hip young bar scene. What I want to know is: Where do you/have you lived that you would recommend to someone of my age (early 20's) and with my job (disc jockey)?

Enlarge Desmond Justin Murray Related ArticlesMan Indicted in Child Abuse Death Daidon Murray suffocated silently. On Thursday, nearly two months after the baby died, Desmond Murray, 24, was indicted by a Polk County grand jury. He was held without bail in the South County Jail in Frostproof on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse in a case that Winter Haven police described as "horrendous." An autopsy concluded the 9-pound infant died from asphyxia and suffered other injuries, including broken ribs and a bruise on his head. Murray has denied abusing the child and blamed the boy's mother for his death, according to police. But Daidon's mother, Khristyne Barkley, told detectives that Murray abused the baby over a period of weeks. She also said he had abused her repeatedly and had threatened to hurt her if she intervened to help the baby. Murray, Barkley and the baby lived in a 450-square-foot studio at Sailwind Apartments at 360 24th St., N.W., and in the tight quarters the crying infant became an annoyance. According to the police account, Barkley told detectives that Murray "had grown frustrated with Daidon's crying and had learned he could stop the baby from crying by forcing air from his abdomen by pushing down on the baby's stomach.'' When that stopped working, he put a washcloth into his child's mouth, the arrest report said, but Daidon "figured out how to get the washcloth out of his mouth, so the defendant had begun securing the washcloth in the baby's mouth with masking tape." Barkley told police that on the afternoon of March 1, Daidon began crying and Murray tossed the child on a bed, causing him to cry even more. Murray used the washcloth and tape, then placed the baby in a closet in his baby seat, according to the statement Barkley gave investigators. She said Murray watched television while she checked on the baby several times during a span of about 30 minutes. On first check, Daidon sounded congested. Later, he was cold and had stopped breathing. Barkley told police she wanted to call 911, but Murray told her not to until he had revived Daidon. When attempts to revive the baby failed, Barkley called 911 as white fluid flowed from the child's mouth, the police report said. Daidon was taken to Winter Haven Hospital where he was declared dead. An emergency room doctor told police that Murray and Barkley had told her the baby pulled a blanket around his head in his crib. They told the doctor the blanket was wrapped so tightly that they had to cut it with scissors. Murray and Barkley gave a similar account to investigators. But police searched the apartment and didn't find any evidence of a blanket that had been cut by scissors. Murray told police that neither he nor Barkley could have harmed the child without one of them witnessing the abuse. When Barkley was first questioned, she denied that any abuse had occurred. Later she told police that Murray repeatedly abused her and the child. She hasn't been charged in the case. Murray also has an 8-month-old daughter, and on April 17 the mother of that child was interviewed by detectives about a conversation she had with Murray a week earlier. The woman told the detectives that Murray said he had watched as Barkley placed the washcloth and tape over the baby's mouth, causing the child to suffocate. Later that day, police issued a warrant for Murray's arrest. Detectives learned that Murray was in Pinellas County, and St. Petersburg police arrested him on a charge of aggravated manslaughter of a child. He was transferred to Polk County, and the charges were upgraded Thursday after the grand jury handed up its indictment. Murray is unemployed but sometimes worked as disc jockey in clubs around Winter Haven. He and Barkley had been dating for 14 months, police said. Law enforcement officials were stunned by the infant's death. "It's as bad a case as I've ever seen," Winter Haven Police Chief Mark LeVine said.
