Why is the U.S. Post Office now enabling illegal aliens? Looking to capitalize on the growing remittance industry, largely fueled by illegal aliens sending money earned through illegal employment in this country, back home, the U.S. Post Office now offers a wire transfer service, but only to countries in Latin America. The service, called Dinero Seguro (Sure Money) is being advertised in local post offices with posters showing a Latino family, along with the caption “for your wire transfer of funds back home.” The following description of the service was taken directly from the official USPS website: “It’s easy to wire money with Sure Money™ (Dinero Seguro®). Whether you are sending it to a business or to family or friends, all you have to do is visit a participating Post Office* and send your money. It will be transferred in just 15 minutes to a participating branch in the destination country.” The wire transfers are only available to the following countries: -Argentina -Colombia -Dominican Republic -Ecuador -El Salvador -Guatemala -Honduras -Mexico -Nicaragua -Peru The new plan will allow a sender to transfer up to $2,000 a day to Latin America. The fee to the sender begins at $10 on an amount of up to $750. When I called the USPS’ toll free number to ask about the specifics of Dinero Seguro, I was mistakenly directed to the Spanish-speaking line. No matter, I pretended to be the owner of a landscape service, with a “large number of undocumented employees.” Once the operator heard this…Her mood quickly became rosy, and helpful. I asked if there were any ID requirements for my employees to send their wages back to Mexico and Honduras, and was told in a sullen voice: “Oh, yes, they will.” However, her mood picked up when I asked if the laughable Matricula Consular cards distributed by the government of Mexico to this country’s illegal alien population would be accepted. She looked it up, and happily told me that they could be used at the Post Office. The customer service worker was “not certain” which particular branches may offer Spanish translators! http://www.examiner.com/x-35821-Immigration-Reform-Examiner~y2010m6d10-US-Post-Office-now-enabling-illegal-aliens
What is the USPS criteria for employment? I'm currently 17 years old, and 18 in a month. I've "got connections", as I hear it is popular to have to receive employment with USPS. I am very close with several people who have served with USPS for years and years. I'm a hard working citizen for my age and pull 6 hours every day mon-fri at a local factory my dad operates. I know I must take the civil service exam (won't be a problem.) Also, I am sworn in and a new enlistee with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard (leaving for Basic this Summer!), does this help any? What I need to know is if you must be a high school graduate with a high school diploma to be eligible to work for USPS. This is what I found off of the USPS website- Age Requirement 18 years at the time of appointment or 16 years with a high school diploma. Does this mean that when I am 18 I am eligible for employment, although not yet a graduate?
government employment usps rural carrier associate? I passed the road test for rural carrier associate. How long does it take to get called and what is the next step after passing driving and drug test?
what is the process to apply for employment with the Usps in California? I have already created a profile but it says something about scheduling an exam, though I can't do it until I get a confirmation I was wondering how long this takes? Anybody can help?
How often does USPS offer exams for employment? I have looked at their website every week for over 3 years and still haven't seen my area (northern Michigan) be able to apply to take their tests for any positions. I would like to be able to take the test because I feel I could do well on it. Anyone else ever seen any exams dates anywhere in Michigan for the last several years?
How long does it take for USPS Personnel to call after an employment offer? I was just offered employment with the Post Office, and I was wondering how long its going to take for their personnel department to get back with me.
What is the phone number for USPS human resources in Columbus OH? I am a former employee who left to finish my degree and would like to come back to the USPS. Besides the USPS employment website what number can I call?
Can anyone give me details/advice about TE Transitional Employment with the USPS? I got hired under transitional employment. I was wandering if someone could assist me with finding information about transitional employment, and offer advice about getting into career positions. I also do fully understand that being a TE, I have no benefits. I do however understand that I am eligible for leave...is this paid leave?? So I get any other benefits besides the hourly wage? I thank you very much in advance for your help....
College grad seeking USPS employment. Help? What type of jobs are there for college grad in USPS sector.. Mail carriers? or any management or supervising jobs open to people with no USPS experience. It is quite hard to find a Federal job.
I just received my USPS exam scores, do I have a good chance of employment? I just received my results for the Rural carrier test. I scored 89%. I live in a small town/rural area where I would have to drive my own vehicle. Do I have a good chance of getting hired?
USPS Employment Scam? My boyfriend was looking for a job with the USPS. There was an ad in the local paper with an 800 number. It was 1-800-584-1859 When he talked to the peron they went on and on about how great the job was, how great the pay and benifits all were. THey kept him on the phone for quitea while. They told him in order to get the study packet he needed to pay $170 for the exam. He used his Debit card and they gave him a confirmation number and said it would be shipped within 10 days. They took the money out of his account It was a company called Exam Services. and he never recived anything in the mail. I was just looking on here for information aboutu it and there was a similar question with the same number saying it was a scam. He just called them back and they told him that the packet was sent back to them and they would send it back out. He is going to go to his bank tomorrow and see what he can do. I'm just wondering on what other steps he can take. Thanks
USPS Employment California? I worked for the USPS before as a Data conversion operator and I took an exam for a cashier/customer service about a year and a half ago and I got a paper in the mail for an interview on the 30th for the position. If i get the job, how long does it usually take for them to notify and hire some one?
Did you get scammed too by this ad? USPS employment...Don't call this number!!!? I read an ad in the local News Paper in the classifies for employment for the U.S. Postal Services. The ad said I could make $20 an hour part time or full time. I called 1-800-584-1859. And they continued to tell me about the employment opportunity and that I needed to pay over $100 for the study material in order to take the Postal Battery Exam. Come to find out it's a big scam and they got my credit card numbers and already charged me. There was a report with the BBB that told me all about it. A little fact so it doesn't happen to you. Your local post office gives you this study material free of charge and tells you how to set up for your test date!!! Lucky for me I used Discover Card. They were great and are going after the company for me and refunding me my money. When I called this company called Exam Services they told me directly they have been doing this for years and no they would not return my money. I feel stupid it was the one time I didn't check first with BBB.
Recommended for employment with USPS...? I had an interview with USPS today. The interviewer said that she was recommending me for employment and that someone would call me to set up a drug screening. How long does this typically take? How long should I wait before I contact THEM?

USPS v. Civilian Federal Govt. Employment? If a person has worked for the Federal Govt over 10+ yrs, can they get a job with United State Postal Service and still keep their time in goverment for retirement? Or are they different systems when it comes to qualifying for retirement?
I am currently a USPS employee and have a few questions pertaining to other positions.? Ok I am currently a mailhandler with the USPS, and I started on October 31, 2007, and I am really interested in being a rural carrier until I could become a career city carrier once that exam become available. I already applied last night to take the rural carrier exam. For example although I just started, if the rural exam was given in January and i took it and score very high on it and was offered employment could I accept it? st tell me how would that work exactly?
When will USPS be taken over by people who actually want customers? I sent an email complaining that a tolll-free employment verification number for USPS hadn't been working for the last 3 weeks -- I'm trying to verify employment for someone I want to hire. Here is the response I got by email from usps customer support: "Thank you for contacting us about the Postal Employee verification phone line not working. Unfortunately if this number is out of service you will have to wait until it does work." I know if I got an email about my company having a problem with one of it's phone lines, I sure wouldn't respond this way....
Between USPS, UPS and Fedex, which company is the best place to work at for delivery? I am wondering which company is the best in terms of how much each typically pays, the amount of work that must be done, how each one treats their employees, how good their benefits are, etc. I am currently looking for good stable employment and I have my eyes set on being a delivery driver for one of these companies. I'd really appreciate it if you could share your experiences as well as your recommendations. I was wondering since USPS is a government job, could that be better and if so, in what way exactly?
what is the address and phone number for usps human resources headquarters? i was a former employee and want to know these , so i can use it on my employment application for the next job hunt. i just want the number so my potential employer can call and verify my employment with them. thanks. i do want the phone number and the address. thanks
USPS mail carriers: do you enjoy your job? I've been thinking of seeking employment with the USPS as a carrier, and I was just wondering if those with the job generally enjoy what they do. I've heard plenty of second- and third-hand opinions, but I don't know any postal workers personally, so I haven't got any first-hand information.
How much bearing will a recent accident have on getting a job with the USPS? I took the test for career letter carrier last winter, passed and got a call in notice for orientation, but due to a blizzard, I got there 5 minutes late and they wouldn't let me in. I never heard anything again from them until today when I got another letter for a call in for orientation. The first time around I had a perfectly clean driving record with no accidents or tickets, but a month ago, I hit a parked card so I was obviously 100 percent at fault for it. I'm going to have to list this on the drivers record they make you fill out, but will it disqualify me from employment or have a really negative effect on the employment process. Also, if it doesn't disqualify me, does the fact that I got a call in mean that I will get a job, but just have to wait on a list until a position becomes available for me? Any information will be appreciated. Thanks I have close to 5 years of driving experience on record so it wasn't like I just started driving and had an accident so hopefully that comes into account. Thanks for all the answers so far.
Is this a USPS SCAM?????? Im not sure if this is a scam or not but first there was an ad in the paper with the number 1-866-945-0291 they said go to gopostalwork.com (it was unavailable ) so I typed employment usps and got a 2009 us postal service ad (online)with this number 1-800-910-9941. US Postal Service Employment? When seeking employment with USPS, and took a test you get a letter that says on the top Notice of Rating Eligible It says basic ratings and final ratings are the identical at low 70s. What does this mean, and what's my chance of getting an interview with this letter in Washington Metropolitan Area?
What's on the USPS Exam 710 for Clerical Abilities? What kind of questions and how many questions are on the United States Postal Service Examination 710 for employment with the Post Office as a clerical worker?
Would you take a day off? I am in my early 30s. Currently working in info technology in a contract that will wind down in about 2 months. I've signed up for USPS employment test, but I'll have to miss a day of work which will cost me about $120 of gross income. I am drained by the constant need to study and sometimes unreasonable demands of end-users in this IT field. Now even if I take this USPS test this does NOT gurantee an interview, and I am aware that competition is really tight for USPS employment. Would you still take a day off and lose $120 of gross income to take USPS employment test if you are interested in working for USPS?
What are the basic requirements for clerical or data entry work with USPS (Postal Service)? I'm going to take a test in order to be considered for employment in the USPS. The test is a clerical/typing test. I have really good typing skills but I'm a little nervous. What are the minimum requirements for typing skills to be considered? Also, are there any other type tests which will be given for clerical/data entry work and what should I be brushing up on right now? Does anyone know of any websites I can turn to for help? Thanks

Action against USPS for identity theft? Hi All, I need some advice. A disability check was delivered to the wrong address by USPS. Along with the check important details like SSN, and employment details were also compromised by delivery to the wrong address. I'm furious that such a mistake was made which opens a lots of possibilities for identity theft. The address on the mail was computer printed(not hand written) so there no chance for misinterpretation. Also the mail was delivered to an address which has absolutely no similarity to mine. I want to know if any action can be taken against USPS for such a costly mistake Thanks M
how would I apply for a job with the post office? i tried usps.gov/employment, need help on where to go from there
What are companies that are located nationwide in America (looking for a job)? I want to move across the country a couple seasons from now but I want there to be a possibility of getting a job transfer so I'll be assured employment when I get there. I took the USPS postal exam but I'm really not sure anymore how likely I am to get a job with them anytime soon. Help. I need a job with a big company.

Education and Reference - Standards and testing? I am living at riverside and want to take the exam to qualify me to be considered for employment to USPS. When and where are the test being administered.
Need help wording employment termination on resume...? I was fired from one of my previous jobs, and I recently received an application for employment and also a date for an interview with USPS. How would you nicely word the following: I was terminated because my district leader said that I did not follow a few procedures as I was suppose to. I informed my district leader that I did not know about the policies, and she basically said that I was still fired for "lack of knowledge". I moved from Virginia to California so the S.O.P.'s (Standard operating procedures) WERE different. How do I justify being fired the way I was in an application where professionalism is a MUST! Supposedly I signed a paper that stated these proceduces existed, although I KNOW I did not sign ANYTHING upon transferring to California. I had worked for the company for several years in Virginia. It was nothing that caused destruction to the companys property, or that could have caused bodily harm to ANYONE. I let my fiance in the store after hours because when I worked in Virginia it was okay...I thought that it was okay PERIOD...and that was what I was fired for...letting my fiance in the store. "Compromising security"
Usps question regarding employmet? applied online for a postion in the post office CITY CARRIER (TRANSITIONAL           EMPL-MOU) I got a email to confirm info and background check- then I was invited to a interview and it states it could last 4 hours- my question is what is the hiring process to work in the usps? How many more steps is there in the process and how long dose it take till you begin employment if hired? I heard they call you over a year later if your considered. Thanks to everyone who answers

What happens after passing the US Postal Service Exam? I passed the USPS exam a couple of months ago. Then, two weeks ago, I received a letter stating that I can create an online profile through the USPS employment website to apply for jobs because I have passed the exam and I'm in the USPS database. I created a profile online, and I searched for jobs in every category, but only 3 are listed in the entire state of Texas--all of them corporate or sales positions. I passed a carrier exam, and I find it hard to believe that there are no current job openings for carriers in all of Texas! What should I do to apply for a carrier position? The letter I received said that the USPS contacted people in the past for interviews, but they are in the midst of switching to an all-online process now where everyone must apply instead of being contacted. I feel like I'm caught between the old way and new way since it seems they're not posting carrier positions online in my area yet. Is it possible they'll still call, or is there someplace else I should apply? Has anyone recently been hired by the USPS who can share their experience? Thanks for any advice!
USPS hiring procedure? I have been through the driving record check and the drug screening, but yet to have a formal interview, where in the hiring procedure am I? There was one other person being looked at for the same position, same town as me. I am a white male, does the post office still look at minorities and females differently than me as far as equal oppurtuny employment?
usps test results? is it true that they post it on thier website where you are on the list for employment
I applied 4 months ago for a casual position with the USPS... I have a tempory job that lasts another 4 months how do they look upon your application for future reference if you turn down the job this time. If they would have called me back 3 weeks ago I could have done it... but I waited nearly 4 months to hear something from them. I would hate to turn this oppurtunity down for casual employment and then never be able to apply for it again since they'll put a big black X next to my name.
Which flexible part-time job should I choose? I am currently waiting for a USPS job. They're checking on my license and driving records which could take another week or two, plus I need to pass a physical. I will be a rural carrier. I received a call today from my local school for a lunch substitute position. The pay isn't much but the schedule is more suited for me because I have a young girl. This is a position through my state. However both positions could lead to full time after a year of employment. I don't really like cold weather in the winter but I like the money with USPS, which will require me to be away from my family overnight elsewhere. Who will watch my kids overnight when my husband won't be available? Also I don't have the right vehicle to do mail delivery, and I'm a petite person. So should I take the job with less pay and suitable hours or the outside job with higher pay?
Will previous job history stop me from being hired with USPS? My question is this, if I have been a stay at home mother for the last year and a half, had a job that I excelled at before that, and also one I was fired from as an assistant store manager, will this stop them from hiring me? I have an interview to be a mail processing clerk. I am a very honest person, and I explained the reason that I was fired when I was an assistant manager. Basically I said on the application that I was terminated due to "Lack of knowledge within the company"...it was a mundane policy violation that I was unaware of. My track record during other times of employment all are very positive though. USPS requires that you list ALL job history, and that you explain in the application any time in your job history that you were fired.
How to apply for mail carrier? I really want to apply to become a mail carrier. I know you have to take an exam, and I get on usps.com/employment all the time. Does there have to be an opening for the job to take the exam. Do you know if you can go to the Post Office and do it? Please help. I heardyou can take it online, but where? If you know can you copy the site and paste in on an answer please? My b/f talked to a fill-in mail carrier of ours that he knows and he said something about he thinks you could do it online or go up to the your local post office, but that's about all the information I got. I'm the one wanting to be a mail carrier, not my boyfriend....please read everything right. And I know it may take up to a few years if I even got the job which is fine. I'm wanting to know how to apply to take the exam?? I go online but it just says there are none in my area but the carrier said you can take one anytime, he just didn't give me very good info. on how to do it.
evidence to prove I am innocent of theft at work? recently a fellow employee accused me of theft within my office. I was accused of stealing petty cash which has been shown to have no descrepencies. I have also been accused of postage theft which I pay all my bills online. I rarely go to the USPS but when I have I use my debitcard. The fellow employee has added toilet paper, paper towels and cups to the list and insist I have stolen these things. This upsets me and I have attempted to show my manager proof of my innocence. The manager has declined to view my records. I am obcessed at this point to prove my innocence and I can't stand that although no form of action has been taken against me that after well over 6 years of employment with my company that my reputation has suffered. Help I need advise!!!
Midland Credit Management Trouble? I recently received a request to pay an old debt from Midland Credit Management. After seeing them all over Yahoo! Answers and Rip-Off Report.com, I was wise to this scam, so I sent this validation letter: ***** To Whom It May Concern: This letter is being sent to you in response to a notice sent to me on January 25, 2009. Be advised that this is not a refusal to pay, but a notice sent pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 USC 1692g Sec. 809 (b) that your claim is disputed and validation is requested. This is NOT a request for “verification” or proof of my mailing address, but a request for VALIDATION made pursuant to the above named Title and Section. I respectfully request that your offices provide me with competent evidence that I have any legal obligation to pay you. Please provide me with the following: • What the money you say I owe is for; • Explain and show me how you calculated what you say I owe; • Provide me with copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay what you say I owe; • Provide a verification or copy of any judgment if applicable; • Identify the original creditor; • Prove the Statute of Limitations has not expired on this account; • Show me that you are licensed to collect in my state; • Provide me with your license numbers and Registered Agent. At this time I will also inform you that if your offices have reported invalidated information to any of the 3 major Credit Bureaus (Equifax, Experian or TransUnion) this action might constitute fraud under both Federal and State Laws. Due to this fact, if any negative mark is found on any of my credit reports by your company or the company that you represent I will not hesitate in bringing legal action against you for the following: •Violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act; •Violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act; •Defamation of Character. If your offices are able to provide the proper documentation as requested in the following Declaration, I will require at least 30 days to investigate this information and during such time all collection activity must cease and desist. Also during this validation period, if any action is taken which could be considered detrimental to any of my credit reports, I will consult with my legal counsel for suit. This includes any listing of any information to a credit reporting repository that could be inaccurate or invalidated or verifying an account as accurate when in fact there is no provided proof that it is. If your offices fail to respond to this validation request within 30 days from the date of your receipt, all references to this account must be deleted and completely removed from my credit file and a copy of such deletion request shall be sent to me immediately. I would also like to request, in writing, that no telephone contact be made by your offices to my home or to my place of employment. If your offices attempt telephone communication with me, including but not limited to computer generated calls and calls or correspondence sent to or with any third parties, it will be considered harassment and I will have no choice but to file suit. All future communications with me MUST be done in writing and sent to the address noted in this letter by USPS. It would be advisable that you assure that your records are in order before I am forced to take legal action. This is an attempt to correct your records, any information obtained shall be used for that purpose. Best Regards, ***** So, I sent it certified mail and I get something today with my signature on it from 2001. THAT'S IT. I got no proof it wasn't past it's statute, I got no information as to why I owe what I owe, NOTHING! And now they want the entire amount paid in full. Which I won't do because something's fishy. Any thoughts on the next logical step? What's the best way to professionally (read:I'd rather not look like an idiot) contact the credit bureaus to make sure that they take my request for validation seriously? I'm 25 and trying to clean up my credit report. The paper that I had signed was for a bank account that I opened before I graduated from high school. It is no longer open. Actually, it's been closed since 2002.

Question about letter from USCIS??? PLZ READ!!!!!!? Hey everybody I received a letter from USCIS this friday for my biometrics appointment on wednesday (tomorrow), but on Monday I received an e-mail notification about a letter from USCIS that was returned by the post office and I'm wondering what it was, it said it was regarding my I-765. I sent forms I-130, I-485, I-765 and I-864 though so I am curious of what it is, I already called USCIS customer service and gave them my correct mailing address because the USPS does not deliver to my home address, I live in a condo so the administrator used to receive my mail from her office but now a mailbox here became available and did the change of address with the USPS, that was like a week ago so maybe that's why they got confused and returned it. I'd also like to know when will I most likely get my Employment Authorization, I sent the forms on April 21st and the biometrics are on May 7th so can anybody give me an estimate like from your own experience. Thanks so much for your help!!
I have a background check questions and past employement? will be attending the Police Acedemy in January 2009. I am putting myself through and I will be fully emersing myself in this program. This is something I have been wanting to do for a long time and now I have the opportunity. I am a little worried my employment background. It isn't a horriable thing, but I was separated from the USPS for calling in sick and I have the paperwork to prove that. I was written up at a previous job for calling a customer the 'B" word, for which I apologized for, my manager stated that It was let go, but then she turned around a few months later and gave me a verbal that they write down. It is something that is cleared from my record after six months, that was well over a year now. Do I still ist it. Should I worry? I have never been arrested, I have an AA degree, been going to college and my employer before that loved me. I have a ton of references and have lived at the same place for years. I am a good person, I am concerned because I want this so much.

Thanks Hi, if you go to the USPS website click on employment. Then you will have to indicate your state and go from there. They will take you to a link and it will tell you if there are any testdates in your state. Yeah, its like playing the lottery I know. If you find a testdate opening in your state, you better jump on it. Oh yeah, it might take them a month to send you the packet with the testdate and study materials you need to be studying before the test. I'm still waiting on mine.
