What's the Official British Columbia Employment Department Website? Hi, I'm in Oregon looking for employment, but I can't find it here. So I'm searching outside of my region. I'm wondering what British Columbia has to offer. I was wondering what the official site for employment for the region is. I don't want some third party site. Thanks!

I'll keep that in mind. I hope APA is simple. I almost can't figure out MLA. Our college uses The Little, Brown Handbook 11e. The index of Works Cited on pages 656-7 doesn't do a good job of directing readers to web-based media, and the few notations that are listed say that it's like some other ambiguous format with minor tweaks. I'm happy that this quarter is almost over.

housing help for disabled unemployed 59+55+50+homeless Washington Co Oregon? Other similar info for Multnomah and Clackamas Counties, or entire state by county; various age ranges, income levels, disabilities. Wish to pass along to those in need at the employment department, homeless assistance organizations, etc, who are having a very hard time getting the help they need! Much of the help extended is not very helpful after all. I want a better search done. Also need some One Stop Shopping for people with disabilities for work searching. Very difficult to find work otherwise.
unemployment: can they deny you if you dont accept a demotion? I live in the state of Oregon. I have recently been able to see the papers that my former employer sent to the employment department. They had me sign what I was told was a termination paper and all it said was "performance", after I left they apparently circled "no" where it said "is this a termination?" and where it said "have any warnings been given?" and she put "yes, verbal and written", which is a lie and was not marked when I signed their cheezy home made paper. The other thing is she is now claiming I refused 2 positions which is also a lie! She said I could go commission only (which is not possible financially due to their low production overall as a company the last 2 months and i do have proof of this) and she also offered to demote me to a position that has a schedule I can not adhere to due to childcare reasons. Now she is claiming I turned them down when in fact I had asked her if she expected an answer now because I feel I should have a day to think about it and sort things out before I accept a position, and I told her honestly that I didn't know I would want to come back, and her response was "just sign the paper then", I don't see that as turning down work, I see that as she didn't like my honesty so decided to just term me. Can they deny me unemployment in this situation? I feel even if I had declined the positions I had good cause not to accept. Also, I have emails of my asking for dental insurance and the owner responding "I will have decide what to do with her soon with her, she isn't making us money at this point", 2 weeks before I was terminated. I viewed these on a shared computer, and the emails were wide open. Can I use this as proof? or would I risk getting in trouble? Is it technically considered my former employers property?

(7) Notwithstanding the fact that a person’s conduct in a single criminal episode constitutes a violation of both subsections (1) and (5) of this section, the district attorney may charge the person with only one of the offenses. (8) As used in this section, “dangerous weapon” means a dangerous weapon as that term is defined in ORS 161.015. [1969 c.705 §§2,4; 1977 c.207 §2; 1979 c.398 §2; 1989 c.839 §22; 1989 c.982 §5; 1991 c.67 §39; 1993 c.625 §1; 1999 c.782 §7; 1999 c.1040 §4; 2001 c.666 §§24,36; 2003 c.614 §6; 2009 c.556 §6] I am wondering what section (4) means. "(4) The exceptions listed in subsection (3)(b) to (g) of this section constitute affirmative defenses to a charge of violating subsection (1) of this section." I understand (3) and the exceptions but (4) has something to do with these exceptions and I don't understand the meaning.
National Career Readiness Certificate re testing? The NCRC or National Career Readiness Test is something they are telling all the people who have been laid off in Oregon to take. If my tests are low they tell me I can re take the test. My test scores were pretty good. I got a 90 on reading and 80 and 81 on math and locating. That gives me a Gold certificate. With one or two more questions correct on Math and Locating and I could probably get the whole certificate up to a Platinum level. If I re test do I get to keep the best score or do I get stuck with the score on the last test I took. Also, is paying for access to the online study guide a good investment or should I just order a book. One interesting note. I have asked these same question to their customer service folks and no one knew the answers. They also couldn't direct me to someone who could. If the online study guide is like this it is money down a rat hole. Also, do employers even care about this NCRC score. Or is this just something to make the Employment Department look like it is doing something helpful. Thank you for your consideration
When the claim balance for unemployment insurance runs out before the expiration date of the claim; then what? Hello, I live in Oregon and my claim does not expire until sometime at the end of October, however the funds allotted will run out several months before that date. I am on tier 1 (I guess) as I have not filed any extensions. I wanted to know if anyone has any personal experience with this? I have gathered what I could directly from the employment department’s website. I am worried that I won’t have a job before the funds run out and wanted to get a little peace of mind if possible that I will be able to file for an extension/extensions? Any details would be greatly appreciated. For example- is there a long waiting time/gap between when the money runs out and filing for an extension? Thank you!!!
Since California's jobless rate reached a fresh post-World War II high why do we need immigration reform? California's jobless rate reached a fresh post-World War II high in July, climbing to 11.9%, a sobering reminder that though the nation's deep downturn may be nearing its end, the state's employment woes are far from over. Golden State employers cut their payrolls by 35,800 jobs in July, according to figures released Friday by the state Employment Development Department. That's a significant improvement over monthly losses that averaged 76,000 over the first half of the year. Still, July's numbers were worse than some analysts had expected, rising from 11.6% in June and led by declines in trade, construction and manufacturing. Even with the rise in unemployment here, however, a consensus is growing that the worst of the recession may be over. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke on Friday declared the economy to be "leveling out," and the National Assn. of Realtors reported a sharp rise in July home sales. Wall Street responded by pushing the Dow index to its highest point since November. Still, a robust recovery appears unlikely, and some regions of the country are expected to suffer fallout from the bursting of the housing bubble for years to come. That includes California, which is now tied with Oregon for the fourth-highest unemployment rate in the nation, behind Michigan, Rhode Island and Nevada. The U.S. unemployment rate is 9.4%, down from 9.5% in June. California's battered construction and housing industries, long pillars of the state economy, remain troubling sources of weakness. Over the last year, the state has lost 760,200 jobs, nearly 1 in 5 of them in construction. White-collar workers have likewise suffered from the housing crash as thousands of jobs in banking, mortgage processing and real estate sales have vanished. The number of new-home permits issued in July fell 47.4% from a year earlier, according to the Construction Industry Research Board. "We've disproportionately benefited from two sectors, construction and financial services," said Esmael Adibi, an economist at Chapman University. "The demise of these two sectors has hurt us disproportionately." That's had an outsize effect on California's 13.5 million Latinos, who are heavily concentrated in the building trades. In 2007, Latinos made up 47% of the construction workforce in the state, according to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. In July, California's Latino unemployment rate hit 12.7%, dwarfing the white jobless rate of 9.5%, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Black unemployment remains the highest in the state at 14.2%. But Latino joblessness has grown much faster. In July 2007 the Latino unemployment rate stood at just 5.9%, compared with 9.2% for blacks and 4.8% for whites. Last month, 805,000 California Latinos were jobless. That's up 127% over the last two years. The number of unemployed whites in the state grew 103% over the same period, while the number of out-of-work African Americans rose 66%. "You really begin to see desperate times for lots of Latino families throughout California," said Vince Vasquez, a senior policy analyst with the National University System Institute for Policy Research. East Los Angeles resident Robert Gonzales said he was struggling to support his three children after his job as an industrial painter disappeared a year ago when his employer moved to Ohio. http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-caljobs22-2009aug22,0,6343107.story

How can John McCain complain about ACORN after this comes out? John McCain's campaign has directed $175,000 to the firm of a Republican operative accused of massive voter registration fraud in several states. According to campaign finance records, a joint committee of the McCain-Palin campaign, the RNC and the the California Republican Party, made a $175,000 payment to the group Lincoln Strategy in June for purposes of "registering voters." The managing partner of that firm is Nathan Sproul, a renowned GOP operative who has been investigated on multiple occasions for suppressing Democratic voter turnout, throwing away registration forms and even spearheading efforts to get Ralph Nader on ballots to hinder the Democratic ticket. In a letter to the Justice Department last October, House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers said that that Sproul's alleged activities "clearly suppress votes and violate the law." That Sproul would come under the employment umbrella of the McCain campaign -- the Republican National Committee has also separately paid Lincoln Strategy at least $37,000 for voter registration efforts this cycle -- is not terribly surprising. Sproul, who has donated nearly $30,000 to McCain's campaign, has been in the good graces of GOP officials for the past decade despite charges of ethical and potentially legal wrongdoing. But his involvement with the Republican Party's voter registration efforts has the potential to create a political and public relations headache at a time when McCain can ill-afford one. For weeks the Arizona Republican and his allies have been seeking to tie Barack Obama to the community organization ACORN, which they have accused of potentially committing massive voter registration fraud. Sproul's contract with the GOP ticket -- in addition to news of Republican officials attempting to suppress Democratic turnout in California -- raises, for some, questions about McCain's own efforts. "It should certainly take away from McCain's argument," said Bob Grossfeld, a progressive political consultant based in Arizona who has followed Sproul's career. "Without knowing anything of what is going on with ACORN, there is a clear history with Mr. Sproul either going over the line or sure as hell kicking dirt on it, and doing it for profit and usually fairly substantive profit." As Republican Congressman Chris Cannon summarized during a joint hearing for the subcommittee on commercial and administrative law back in May 2008: "The difference between ACORN and Sproul is that ACORN doesn't throw away or change registration documents after they have been filled out." Indeed, Sproul's history is filled with allegations of political misdeeds. During the 2004 election, Sproul & Associates (the former name of Lincoln Strategy) was accused of attempting to destroy forms collected by Democratic voters in Nevada. That same year in Oregon, Sproul & Associates allegedly instructed canvassers to only accept Republican registration forms in addition to destroying those turned in by Democrats. Well actually I am how'd you find out
