Why on earth is the Walmart employment application so in-depth? I was looking for part-time work and thought.. well why not Walmart. Then I went online and went through the application process and was shocked. It was more intense than Home Depot. I was expecting to just fill out my details and employment history. Of course, I never got a call. Then I watch the quality of the current employees when shopping there as they ignore customers at the Jewelry kiosk. Don't even get me started with the cashiers. Question about Walmart pre-employment drug test? Okay, on Tuesday, I was called in for an interview at Walmart. I took the interview, answered the questions, and as soon as I left, they called me in again for my management interview. They called my references and showed me how much I'd be making and explained my hours, then sent me to the clinic for a drug test. Today is Friday and I still haven't heard back, which worries me. About a week and a half ago, (maybe longer) I had a horrible cough. My grandmother gave me some of her promethazine codeine cough syrup. I couldn't stop coughing or sleep unless I took some, so I ended up taking the entire bottle within a week's time. Like I said, this was at least a week, if not longer before I had this interview at Walmart. I exercise daily and drink the recommended amount of water as well. So what I'm wondering is- Should I be worried? I don't do any kind of drug, and the cough syrup was a one time thing. I would have gotten my own but, irony, no job, so no insurance. Plus, I didn't know I'd be called in any time soon. Thanks for reading this. I didn't know it would be this long. I'm a worrier though. :/ Well, thanks guys. I actually passed and got the job, so I'm guessing I just got lucky. Regardless- Lesson learned.

What criminal history information is available if the Target Corporation ran a background employment check? I know there are federal and state laws governing this issue. I'm wondering exactly what information is disclosed during a background check. I'm asking because I was a former police officer who got charged with two felonies and two misdemeanors (domestic incident) a month ago. The charges are false and are being fought with an attorney. Don't wanna go into too many details, but all charges will be dropped in the end. The victim doesn't want to testify, and never did. No victim, no case. Anyways, I know that if I applied to be another police officer or work for a Police Agency, they can run a special background check that will show the arrest, but if a private corporation say Walmart, or Target were to run my background for an employment check, only Felony Convictions would show up right? Employment options for DEAF people under the age of 18? I am 17 1/2 years old- old enough for most jobs open to high-school students. I am also very smart and capable. I can do manual work. Problem? I'm deaf. While my speech and comprehension is generally good enough to get by most of the time, I don't want to work at somewhere like a cashier job at Taco Bell or a Walmart's helper, where I'm required to talk to several different people all day long. I'd REALLY like to find a part-time job but I have no idea where to look- it seems that the only places that have job openings for high-school students are restaurants or stores- and in there, I'll likely be placed as a waitress or a clerk/cashier... jobs that I don't think I would do very well at. Walmart: Two week notice to avoid coaching my best option? I've only worked at Walmart for a couple of months as a Truck Crew Associate with the idea of moving into another department as well as moving up at a later time. The problem is I've been declined for a period leave due to holidays approaching, so the unexcused absents will result in a verbal coaching. To my understanding, a coaching would freeze me as a Truck Crew Associate for a year. After looking at my options, to leave Walmart with an untarnished employment or stay as Walmart's backroom lackey for at least a year, I've decided my best option is to put in my two week notice to avoid the coaching. I would like to point out that I work at Walmart due to convenience of location and stayed as long as I did with the hopes of moving up in getting supervisor experience. Random drug test after the pre-employment drug test? I quit smoking marijuana about two weeks ago. I'm going to apply at Target and/or Walmart in the next week or two. I'm worried about my pre-employment drug test? I took a alcohol/drug test for a position at Walmart, the night before I had a few drinks not realizing on the same day as my interview they'd test me. What I'm wondering is would the test show me as positive for alcohol even if I woke up without a hangover but was slightly drunk? Is Walmart bad? Everything is cheaper. They have the $4 prescription program. You can buy anything all at one place. They save us lots of money. Employment there is voluntary, no one is forced. And there are worse jobs. So why is Walmart getting such a bum rap?

Homemaker - How to explain employment gaps on job resume? (AT&T Call center)? I've been a "homemaker" (no children, engaged - not yet married) for the past 8 years, and I am 27 years old. Before which, I held a job at a restaurant for a couple of months when I was 19. Since, I have worked occasionally - worked for a research company call center in 2003 for a month or so, until relocating across the country. Then, in 2006 I had a temporary position at Walmart on a remodel crew for 2 months. And, worked for a convenience store as a cashier for 2 months. In between, i've been a "Homemaker" and did occasional housecleaning and childcare work (self employed, didn't make enough to file taxes). Will my lack of steady employment create a problem as far as obtaining employment? I have applied with AT&T/Cingular wireless, for the Customer Service/Call center position. I have an appointment this week to do a formal application, and hoping to get an interview. I would like to bring a resume with me, but am not sure how to explain my lapse in employment? Friends who have worked at AT&T have told me so long as I have customer service experience, I will have no problem getting a job there. But? Oh, and a note, I am not planning to stay for 2 months and then leave, this one is a job I would like to have for a long while. =) SAMANTHA: I do NOT need to explain my life to you. Walmart Pay Vacation and Sick Pay Day? Hello i have been employed at Walmart for about five months and i'm on pay stub i never see any pay day or sick day leave hours being accured where other associates pay stub have them listed or gets accrued each month i believe. How many months or years do you have to work for them to qualify for sick day leave or vacation leave? One time i heard someone say you got to work about a year to get one week pay vacation leave and some sick day leave?? But what if i get sick before my one year of employment and rather than calling out as absence i wish to you this whether they be sick pay day leave or pay vacation leave. Any suggestions?? Thanks
Is this ALWAYS going to bar me from employment? I worked for a Walmart as a seasonal position in 2004, and Home Depot in 2005, but ever since then have not been able to get a job ANYwhere. I think they might be hindering my chances, because... 1. At WalMart, we were allowed a small drink from the snack bar at break, but I didn't know that meant half hour break and not 15minute break. Plus this old guy left his crackers behind when he ordered soup, so I had them instead of putting them back(since they were technically already paid for. I worked in the snack bar.) They saw that on camera and insisted both things were "theft". and 2. I probably shouldn't have done this, but at Home Depot, I just kind of showed up one day to get my check and told the lady..."here's my apron, I'm not coming back." This was because they absolutely refused to give me any maternity leave. I was expected to be back on the job three days after giving birth. But prospective employers don't look at any of that stuff or even give you a chance to explain...to them it just looks like "theft" and "walk-off". So do you think this will always bar me from employment? And since they were only short term positions(about 2 months each), if I don't tell people I ever worked there and then they find out, would that get me fired? But then again if I don't tell people about those two, then I have no job experience whatsoever except two under-the-table things from high school, and that looks worse, right? So how do I handle this so SOMEone will hire me?
A legal question about employment contracts...? My son is about to start a job where they want him to sign a contract stating that if the employment is terminated for any reason, he cannot work for any company that sells electronics for 18 months. I assume they could consider Walmart, Target, Sears or any other place that sells electronic equipment. Wouldn't that be denying him a livelihood? I applied for employment abroad through a Dr. Shean Edwards who implied that he recruits for Global Placements Services (email:dr.shean@yahoo.ca) who contacted me a day later and informed me that Wal-Mart Canada has offered me the position of Accounting Clerk III. Mr Jim Walton of Wal-Mart wrote me an email later confirming the offer. He required me to fill in some Interview Assessment Forms which and scan them back. Days later he sent me an offer letter on email for me to sign if I accepted the terms and conditions, stating that the original will be sent together with my work permit, visa and other clearance documents.I am supposed to fill the Wal-Mart Bio Data form and send it to their lawyer- (Virgil Smith Attorneys) for the processing of work permit and visa. I need to know whetrher anyone else has been offered a job thru email by walmart. Has anyone taken up a job with them? My stand, when the deal is too good, think twice. Is this a scam???
Walmart Benefits.....? Does anyone know what the eligibility date is for benefits such as medical coverage with Walmart? For example: are you eligible for coverage at date of hire?...after 30 days of employment?...after 60 days?...after 90 days?....Please assist. I am interested in working for them, but I also need medical coverage asap because my current coverage will expire soon and individual insurance coverage is not an option. Thanks. I worked there back in 98' PT and I was only there for a total of about 5 months and I remember having insurance. I am not sure when I was offered coverage or what type it was. I do remember that it was through Blue Cross Blue Shield of SC, so I know it was good coverage especially for only being there PT, but I am sure they have probably changed there coverage options by now. Can my son say that he has done misc. jobs for cash over the summer on a job application? My 17 yr. old son has done some misc. work for people over the summer. Mowing lawns for neighbors. He also helped build an addition, and did some roofing work. He was paid cash for these jobs. He was paid by the job for mowing the lawn. But the other work he was paid $10 hr. cash. Can he put this stuff down on a job application? How should he word it? Does he say self employed? The job applications he will be filling out will be for his first job. He filled out a few applications last winter, but didn't have anything to write down for employment. He's hoping that the little bit of work he did over the summer will be helpful. He's just looking to get a job at like Walmart or something.
How can Aflac insurance refuse to cover cancer? Heres the situation, my mother just signed up for a health insurance through Aflac (by way of walmart employment) and she added on the cancer insurance. After getting the insurance she turned up with some skin cancer on her forehead, she read in her plan afterwards that if she was to get skin cancer again in the next ten years they wouldn't cover it, but if she got another form of cancer they would cover it. Now my real question is how greedy is it that if you start to have some ongoing problems with cancer they won't cover it more then once. How can they do that, it doesn't seem ethical what so ever to refuse treatment of a disease that has a good chance of recurring. would they refuse someone with high blood pressure meds if after 6 months if they got themselves balanced and upon noticing that the person is "Healthy" the insurance company refuses to cover any more med for high blood pressure?
How long will weed stay in my system? 10 Days ago exactly, I smoked a little weed at a party. Now by a little I mean i hit a blunt, and then a small glass pipe. So all total I had 2 hits. This was 10 days ago and today I had to take a pre-employment drugtest. This is a gs/ms laboratory test, not just a walmart piss test, so I am concerned that I wont pass. What do you think of unions? I work in a field that has quite a bit of dealings with unions and I have yet to see one that helps a worker and also helps the company remain competitive and successful. Why is it that the union representing school teachers thinks it's appropriate for a gym teacher to get the same salary as a math teacher and that they are guaranteed employment for life? Companies are leaving this country. WalMart employees should have a union, not our manufacturing plants and educational system. I am tired of unions strangling out the success of companies and promoting laziness and never helping! I watch more companies close down or leave that have unions than don't. Have any pharmacists worked for Rite Aid or Eckerd Drugs? My wife is going to be leaving her current position as a hospital pharmacist to get back to working a day shift. She interviewed with Eckerd Drugs today and they were VERY motivated to hire her. A HUGE sign on bonus and great benefits. Having said that, in a few months, this Eckerd with be a Rite Aid. I've read some Rite Aid horror stories online, but all were from a customer's point of view. I'd like to hear how a pharmacist views their employment with Rite Aid. I don't want my wife to go into a situation that will cause her undue stress. Sam's Club also has offered her a position, but with no sign on bonus. Also, they would make her wait 1 year before starting in the 401K plan. The schedule, however, would be better for us as a family. Any pharmacists for Sam's/Walmart who have opinions to share would be appreciated as well. We live in the Myrtle Beach, SC area. Target, unfortunately, is fully staffed here. It was the first place we looked! We get our own scripts filled there. We also checked with the supermarkets in the area: Kroger, PigglyWiggly and BiLo. Also fully staffed. Sounds like the big box stores and supermarkets must be doing something right. The only stores begging for pharmacists here are the Rx chains.

I would like some feedback on my career situation.? I am a 57 year old white male. I have worked in IT and my skills are Access, Excel and Visual Basic. I have some significant gaps in my work history where. I worked as a substitute teacher in school year 2005/2006 and but did not feel that going into teaching was right for me. 1. My skills are not that advanced with respect to current technologies. 2. I do not have good references for IT work. Some are too old. 3. I had several temp jobs in the last year where I was told that I was not strong enough technically with respect to employer's current expectations. 4. My history of temp jobs and gaps in employment has resulted in negative comments from many employers during recent interviews. 5. I have worked for H & R Block the last four tax seasons. full or part time. I have receive positive reviews every year and this is my best recent work reference. 7. I just got a job at a local Walmart and working 30 hours a week at $10 an hour in electronic sales.

I quit my walmart job two months ago because i moved to another city. Now im back home again. can u help? Im wondering do you guys think they will take me back? i gave my two weeks notice before i quit. I never had any problems with management. Would it be ok to call them up and ask for my job back or should i just be patient and wait for them to read my new application for employment? oh by the way im not asking if walmart is a good place to work or not. so dont give me opinion on what you think about walmart as a company. I dont give a fuck what you think about them.
