What is the career path to becoming a physician's assistant (PA)? I was just wondering if someone could outline for me the educational requirements necessary before a person can become a licensed PA. Also, for you PA's out there, how satisfied are you with your job? Also, does one have to go to med school or are can you get such a degree from a normal university? I always appreciate useful links. Thanks
How do I begin a career in law enforcement? I'm working on a bachelors, but only have ayears worth of credits. My end goal is the PA State Police, or at least a township. I know I have to be act certified, how do I get that if not from an academy, and how do I get into the academy, and how pretty much everything else. If you don't want to waste time answering all of the questions, at least provide me with some links.
Having trouble finding a job in Philadelphia, PA? I graduated in 2003 with a BA degree in Labor Industrial Relations and over the past couple of months I've been having a difficult time finding a job. I went on several interviews for HR positions, but I am not getting a call back and when I contact the companies they always say "we'll be contacting you soon." I was told on various occasions that I did well on my interviews, and I always send thank you letters within 24hrs. If anyone has any suggestions or websites, career links, or anything that may be helpful please let me know. Thanks in Advance!!

Need Advice for opening Party Business? would love to have my own small dress up rental business for children to experience an extra special birthday. I imagine I would target more girls then boys with this idea but will also include boys items. What I would like to do is have the business from my home as in I would store the costumes, accessories and party supplies in my extra room. Then when people would like to rent a package I would either have them pick it up at my home or deliver it to them. For an extra fee I would deliver everything set it up and then after the party take everything down and back home. In this package I would include -Costumes (In the theme they choose) -Accessories (Feather Boas, Fairy Wings, Necklaces, Crowns...) -Invitations (Optional add on) -Games to Play -Craft Activity -Party Guide -Favors (Optional add on) -Table Wear (Tea Cups or Paper Goods, Table Cloth, Napkins....) -Decorations This would be a complete package but I would also set up individual packages if they only choose to have the costumes and tea cups for example. So the parents would be the ones to host this party but it would be easy as I would include lots to do and a guide. So this is my idea and I would love to start it out with just a few themes. But there are a few things I am still not sure about. I live in a small town in PA the population is 5,960 I would be willing to travel to houses out of my town but I would love to get business locally. I plan on moving down the road but this is where I will be living for several years. In this area there are no party things to do the only thing we have is a bowling alley. We do have a community center and places to hold parties at if parents didn't want to have the party in their home. I also don't plan to get rich off of this business either just want to do it part time and make some money doing something I love! I also know that I would need to get a business license but what else would I need to rent out these packages? I don't really know the nuts and bolts of what to do or how to find out more information about this. I am also going to be attending Penn State in Fall to get my education for a real career so not sure if I will be able to open my business until after I graduate which will be two years after this fall. But if I some how was able to open up while attending school the extra money would help out. Here is a link to basically exactly what I want to do only in a smaller scale http://www.simplypretend.com/

Is there really a scientific consensus on AGW, or is "scientific consensus" just an attention-getter? Maybe the 'consensus' is just within the group of scientists who support the idea. Here's a link showing many scientists who disagree with the entire notion of agw. Below are a few examples. What do you think of their opinions? http://ilovecarbondioxide.com/2009/01/hundreds-of-scientists-publicly.html "Warming fears are the worst scientific scandal in history…When people come to know what the truth is, they will feel deceived by science and scientists.” - UN IPCC Japanese Scientist Dr. Kiminori Itoh, an award-winning PhD environmental physical chemist “Anyone who claims that the debate is over and the conclusions are firm has a fundamentally unscientific approach to one of the most momentous issues of our time.” - Solar physicist Dr. Pal Brekke, senior advisor to the Norwegian Space Centre in Oslo. Brekke has published more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific articles on the sun and solar interaction with the Earth. "Many [scientists] are now searching for a way to back out quietly (from promoting warming fears), without having their professional careers ruined." -- Atmospheric physicist James A. Peden, formerly of the Space Research and Coordination Center in Pittsburgh, Pa. “Since I am no longer affiliated with any organization nor receiving any funding, I can speak quite frankly. The main basis of the claim that man’s release of greenhouse gases is the cause of the warming is based almost entirely upon climate models. We all know the frailty of models concerning the air-surface system” - Atmospheric Scientist Dr. Joanne Simpson, the first woman in the world to receive a PhD in meteorology, and formerly of NASA, who has authored more than 190 studies and has been called “among the most preeminent scientists of the last 100 years.” “Earth has cooled since 1998 in defiance of the predictions by the UN-IPCC….The global temperature for 2007 was the coldest in a decade and the coldest of the millennium…which is why ‘global warming’ is now called ‘climate change.’” - Climatologist Dr. Richard Keen of the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at the University of Colorado Dana, the names on this list are all scientists. Did I sleep through the bit where wearing trainers warped from fashion faux pas to a dismissible offence? ? On looking through my recent answers @ one on the teacher sacked for wearing trainers (What are your views on the teacher sacked for wearing trainers to work) I see a comment that it occurred after he questioned management which may explain the behind scenes rationale (though no doubt there were other issues we will never know about). What surprised me though was the idea that some answers totally supported the dismissal on grounds of "discipline in society/ flouting rules/ dressing down" and even had thumbsups!! Are we sooo far up our behinds in image-consciousness that a P.E. teacher (for God's sake) cannot wear apparently-no-longer-fashionable footwear to work without some in this society condoning the end of a career spanning 30 years? That takes priority over instilling a sense of enthusiasm? Over inspiration to achieve/succeed? Over 30 years of experience and knowledge? I don't know the teacher or the story (no link) and presume many answering don't either but it appears image superseded ability at least to answerers which betrays a rather pathetic broader trend. Steph j - did you sleep through English Language?
