Americans: Do you like British artists and their music? please read the list inside :)? Recently a lot of British artists have tried to change themselves a bit and try to get known in America. The recent one that i've heard of are N-Dubz, they talked a bit about having to change their lyrics a bit i think as they said American people would not understand the British slang in them or something like that (i don't see why they had to do that as we listen to American bands a lot and we have no trouble understanding them) and i recently read in a magazine that Tulisa who's the girl in the group was told to change her hair colour from blonde to brown, i have not a clue why, i think she looks a better as a blonde, any ideas why she was told to do it? Another is Cheryl Cole (though she might go back to her maiden name Tweedy after her football husband was thought of slept with other women) Simon Cowell has apparently had offered Cheryl a chance to be a judge on the American version of the X-Factor and that would help promote her music over there too. Also Leona Lewis has been snatched up by a American recording company :( which i'm a bit sad about as she won OUR X-Factor and she's very nice, but she does like spend quite a lot of time back in London and stay in her country :) Alexandra Burke has also made her music to appeal more to the American public. I'm just very curious what Americans think of our bands as we always hear American bands on the radio etc. and as a lot of our bands are trying to get known in the States, do you think any of them would be successful over there?? Here's a some British artists, that i can remember off te top of my head, sorry if i've missed any major ones, i would of added links to all of them but Yahoo Answers would not allow me to so i only kept a few so PLEASE type the aratist names in YouTube, pleeeeeease :) Sugababes. None of the members are original hehe, i've never seen a band change so much. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68D4GB6zJFc This song is soooo American lol: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WV148zhtJgk N-Dubz. They are a load of chavs but i think they are good. Dappy and Tulisa are cousins. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nj1Ck_k53U Cheryl Cole. She has a northern English accent-she grew up in Newcastle. She has gone solo from Girls Aloud but the group is still together.. for now i think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4umc87T5UMs Mika. I don't know much about him but his music seem nice. The Saturdays. They have sort of replaced Girls Aloud as the new girl band, they are one of my favourite bands. Oh, and Una with the light brown hair is not British but Irish. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Umag84Fqk4I Leona Lewis. She my favourite artist. She won the X-Factor in 2006 and , wow can't believe it was that long ago. in 2007 Leona signed a £5 million ($9.7 million) five-album contract in the United States with Clive Davis's record label, J Records. NOOO Leona come back to us lol. I love this one :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YDz-ftqr1g JLS. (fan scream) oh god these guys are sooo hot lol. I luv Marvin <3. They came as runners up in the X-Factor in 2008 but i'm sure they didn't mind that, they are now the newest boyband that melt all girl's hearts lol. I just got distracted watching them in the first video below i almost forgot to add the URL lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJJEZdYQR_s urgh i'm not too sure about the video for this song, they are really trying to appeal to American people here, but oh well :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuklSZVvpzc Take That. I don't know much about them but i like a couple of their songs. Kaiser Chiefs. I don't know much about them but i like some of their songs and they seem good :) Lily Allen. I really like her music. She has made quite a few songs recently but i read in a mag she's announced she is going to stop for now and settle down i think :S and get married by what i can remember from the mag. She often uses a lot fo swear words in her songs more then most other artists. One of her older songs and one of my favourites >:): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13TXPdCVxds Amy McDonald. I love her voice and style, she's Scottish and has very recently release another album. Her newest song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oL4iDuzOCUM Pixie Lott. I like her music. Little Boots. Her music is cool :) Girl's Can't Catch. This band is very new. I'm not too sure about their band name but they have nice music. Daisy Dares You. She is 16 years old and is very new. I quite like her music. Robbie William. Urgh i can't really stand him lol he always seem to try too hard and my mum don't like him because his videos use to a bit sexist and he always seemed to take his clothes off and have sexy women around him etc. He has recently made some new songs which are better i guess. Chipmunk. I really don't like his type of music but here he is anyway. Diana Vickers. Diana went out of the semi-final in the The X Factor in 2008

Get Hired. For 2500 Points: Click on Career Articles. Who wrote "10 Habits That Bosses Love"? - Margaret Steen 10 Habits that Bosses Love by Margaret Steen, for Yahoo! HotJobs Every boss wants employees who do their jobs well. But even among highly competent employees, there are distinctions. Here are 10 tips for making sure you're on the boss's A-list: 1. Communicate, communicate, communicate. Especially at the beginning of your relationship -- that is, when either you or the boss is new to the job -- err on the side of giving your boss too much information and asking too many questions. "There's no such thing as a dumb question," says Marianne Adoradio, a Silicon Valley recruiter and career counselor. "Look at it as information gathering." Don't keep up the constant stream of communication unless your boss likes it, though. It's best to ask directly whether you're giving the boss enough information or too much. 2. Acknowledge what the boss says. Bosses appreciate "responsive listening," says John Farner, principal of Russell Employee Management Consulting. When your boss asks you to do something or suggests ways for you to improve your work, let her know you heard. 3. Collaborate. When your boss has a new idea, respond to it in a constructive way instead of throwing up roadblocks. "Be willing to brainstorm ways to get something done," says Michael Beasley, principal of Career-Crossings and a leadership and career development coach. 4. Build relationships. You'll make your boss look good if you establish a good rapport with your department's customers, whether they're inside the company or outside. Bring back what you learn -- about ways to offer better customer service, for example -- to your boss. This is also helpful for your own career development. "Everybody wins in the long run," Adoradio says 5. Understand how you fit in. Is your boss detail-oriented, or someone who keeps his head in the clouds? "The boss's personality is just incredibly important," says Norm Meshriy, a career counselor and principal of Career Insights. Equally important is understanding what your boss wants in an employee. It may be, for example, that a boss who is detail-oriented will expect his employees to be as well. But a boss who has no time for details may actually appreciate an employee who does. 6. Learn the boss's pet peeves. If your manager has said repeatedly that she hates being interrupted first thing in the morning, don't run to her office to give her a project update when you first get in. 7. Anticipate the boss's needs. Once you have worked with your boss for a while, you should be able to guess what information he will want before approving your purchase order, for example. If you provide it ahead of time, "that's a gold star," Farner adds. 8. Think one level up. You still need to do your own job, of course. But when managers consider who deserves a promotion, they look for people who understand the issues that their bosses face. 9. Open yourself to new ways of doing things. When your boss comes to you with a new idea, don't simply dismiss it. If you don't think it will work, offer to discuss it further in "a mature, responsible, adult-like way," Beasley says. 10. Be engaged in your work. Arguing with your boss over every request is not a good strategy, but neither is simply shrugging your shoulders and agreeing with everything your boss says. "The manager would like to see an engaged individual," Beasley says. That means both showing enthusiasm for your work and speaking up when you see room for improvement. http://hotjobs.yahoo.com/career-articles... Here's a some British artists and some of their old and recent music, that i know of anyway, sorry if i've missed any major ones, i would of added links to all of them but Yahoo Answers would not allow me to so i only kept a few so PLEASE type the name in YouTube. Sugababes. Urgh i can't really stand him lol he always seem to try too hard and my mum don't like him because his videos use to a bit sexist and he always seemed to take his clothes off and have sexy women around him etc. the first video is a good example. He has recently made some new songs which are better i guess. Chipmunk. I really don't like his type of music but here he is anyway. Diana Vickers. Diana went out of the semi-final in the The X Factor in 200
Americans: Do you like British artists and their music? please read the list inside :)? None of the members are original hehe, i've never seen a band change so much. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68D4GB6zJ… This song is soooo American lol: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WV148zhtJ… N-Dubz. They are a load of chavs but i think they are good. Dappy and Tulisa are cousins. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nj1Ck_k5… Cheryl Cole. She has a northern English accent-she grew up in Newcastle. She has gone solo from Girls Aloud but the group is still together.. for now i think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4umc87T5U… Mika. I don't know much about him but his music seem nice. The Saturdays. They have sort of replaced Girls Aloud as the new girl band, they are one of my favourite bands. Oh, and Una with the light brown hair is not British but Irish. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Umag84Fqk… Leona Lewis. She my favourite artist. She won the X-Factor in 2006 and , wow can't believe it was that long ago. in 2007 Leona signed a £5 million ($9.7 million) five-album contract in the United States with Clive Davis's record label, J Records. NOOO Leona come back to us lol. I love this one :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YDz-ftqr… JLS. (fan scream) oh god these guys are sooo hot lol. I luv Marvin <3. They came as runners up in the X-Factor in 2008 but i'm sure they didn't mind that, they are now the newest boyband that melt all girl's hearts lol. I just got distracted watching them in the first video below i almost forgot to add the URL lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJJEZdYQR… urgh i'm not too sure about the video for this song, they are really trying to appeal to American people here, but oh well :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuklSZVvp… Take That. One of her older songs and one of my favourites >:): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13TXPdCVx… Amy McDonald. I love her voice and style, she's Scottish and has very recently release another album. Her newest song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oL4iDuzOC… Pixie Lott. I like her music. Little Boots. Her music is cool :) Girl's Can't Catch. This band is very new. I'm not too sure about their band name but they have nice music. Daisy Dares You. She is 16 years old and is very new. Feldman has stated that he swore to have no further contact with Haim until haim gets sober. Haim claims that he is sober. 1. Do you think that this may just be a way for the two 80's movie stars to inch their way back onto Hollywood's A-List (or at least B-List) or do you believe the two to be sincere? No, I think that while one can't say much for their careers, that they are friends and are having issues getting along, of which the "silent" treatment is a result. Yes, I think this is a ploy by the two to keep their names in the celebrity media news for as long as it takes for them to grab another acting gig or reality TV show. Fabulous Films Fabulous comedic director/producer/writer Judd Apatow has been a leading force in what the definition of funny has been for a number of years with movies like The 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up. 1. Of the below three quotes, which one do you think the funniest line to come from an Apatow film? "Your face looks like Robin Williams' knuckles." Seth Rogan as Ben Stone in Knocked Up. "You know what? I respect women! I love women! I respect them so much I completely stay away from them! ." Steve Carrell as Andy Sitizer in The 40 Year Old Virgin "McLovin? What kind of a stupid name is that, Fogell? What, are you trying to be an Irish R&B singer?" Michael Cera as Even in Superbad World News Recently a family court judge in New Zealand had enough with parents giving their children bizarre names and made a nine year old child named "Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii" a ward of the court so that her named could be changed. Some of the other names now blocked include: "Cinderella Beauty Blossom" and "Fish and Chips." 1. Do you think parents have the right to name a child anything they choose or do you think these wacky names only aid in a child being embarrassed and teased by such a name? Yes, if you have a child and have a name with a special meaning you should be able to use that name for the child. No, if a parent can't remember back to school and how easily it is to be teased for one's name, then they probably should not be parents either. Think about the child. It is their life. HotJobs When you're the employer or hiring manager, you want to know: "What's in it for me?" Here's the problem: since our resume is about us, we tend to write it from the perspective of our own eyes. So it's only natural to want to talk about what WE want. For example, here is a typical clunker found on too many resumes these days: "seeking challenging role in a dynamic, growth-oriented company where I can demonstrate my excellent skills in []." Hit the delete key, please! A Better Way to Get Noticed The shocking fact today is that no one wants to read your resume. Recruiters and hiring managers are busy people with a long list of other things to do as well. As a result, the person who scans the hundreds of resumes that may be submitted for each position spends less time than ever on any given resume. Many staffing professionals estimate that it may be 20 seconds or less. So it makes sense to make th So it makes sense to make the most of those few seconds to grab them quickly and motivate them to read more and make that phone call. Hiring managers are looking for one element that will make them stand up and take notice of a candidate. That one element is a strong benefit to the employer. When you provide an employer benefit, you speak their language. They want to know more. Unfortunately, too many resumes lack this. Two Approaches Here is an example. Suppose you have the skill: "Excellent oral and written communication skills." How can we answer the question, "So What?" in the mind of the employer? Here's how: Offer an example of how you've used these skills in your job to the benefit of your employer by writing an employer benefit bullet like this: "Wrote and presented successful training program for 155 company new-hires, resulting in measurable gains in company's inventory efficiency over 12 month period." The first example statement is a cliche. Focus on the Goal Your resume should be a hard-hitting sales tool designed to accomplish one goal: get the interview. To accomplish this, add an achievement list to your resume. Get rid of these cliches: "proven leadership & managerial capabilities", "accomplished leader", "ability to build, motivate & mentor." Turn each one into an achievement by asking the question, "So what?" after each one. Now, describe the benefit that your employer gained from each example. When you're finished, you'll have a list of achievement statements that all answer the "What's in it for me?" question that's on the mind of every hiring manager who will read your resume in the future. http://hotjobs.yahoo.com/career-articles-the_one_question_your_resume_must_answer-477 Taylor Swift Rewards Code Listen every night at 8:50 for your Taylor Swift rewards code worth 25,000 points! - Tied Together With A Smile Trivia questions for Wednesday August 13,2008 - Remedy for Life Trivia Remedy for Life. How hot is this singer? (with pics)? For those unfamiliar with her, Peaches (a.k.a. Merrill Nisker) is a Canadian electroclash music artist whose songs, music videos, and live shows are mainly concerned with sex while blurring the distinction between male and female. Peaches proudly and intentionally dresses provocatively and over-the-top to show that not all women are beautiful lingerie/swimsuit models. In 2008, an article on MSN.com listed Peaches as one of Canada's sexiest female music artists, on the same level as Nelly Furtado, Shania Twain, Feist, Chantal Kreviazuk, and Avril Lavigne. http://inmusic.ca/photos/themes/Articles/SexiestCanadianWomen.htm?feedname=PHOTO_GALLERY-CanadianWomen&pos=10&nolookup=true On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 1 as the lowest and 10 as the highest), how attractive would you say Peaches is? Suggestions for a Mix Cd for a Birthday Party? Yea, this seems like a question a twelve year old would ask, but anyway. I'm making a mix tape/CD/playlist for a 19 year old girl's birthday party, And so far the theme I've had in mind is just danceable songs from 2007/2008, simple yes? I also added some "filler songs" from the 80's for cool down. Here is the list so far Electric Feel - MGMT Kim & Jessie - M83 D.A.N.C.E. - Justice Dead Man's Party - Oingo Boingo (Filler) Ready For The Floor - Hot Chip Strange Overtones - David Byrne and Brian Eno Lazy Eye - Silversun Pickups Swingin' Party - The Replacements (Filler) Jimmy - M.I.A Lights & Music - Cut Copy All My Friends - LCD Soundsystem The party guests are going to be 19-20 year olds from a rural country setting, I hope I don't freak them out with my urban "hipster" music. What are some suggestions I could add to the list

school thing again......i really need to get ink for my printer.? Becca RobelBusiness Due Feb,13,09Simon Cowell His first known insult, directed towards his own mother, when he told her, that her hat made her look like a poodle. He was born on October 7th 1959 in Brighton England, Son to Eric Phillip and Julie Cowell, brother too Nicholas Cowell, step brother to Tony and Michael Cowell. Many know him as that mean one on American Idol, who? None other than Simon Cowell. Yes the man who built his fortune on the criticism of others, the producer of the X factor, America’s got Talent and judge of his other show , American Idol. Although it may seem crazy, this man actually worked very hard to get to where he is today. Smarts, Risks and Connections with his Father, made him the man he is today. Due to Drinking and cigarette smoking that started at age 9, Simon was kicked out of a numerous amount of schools leading to him dropping out at age sixteen. Simon began working at a few menial jobs but always had trouble getting along with bosses and co-workers, obviously not a surprise, seeing how he still doesn’t get along with his fellow judges. His Father who was an executive at the recording Giant at EMI music publishing , got him a job in, where else?, his companies mail room. After a year of mail , Simon moved up to a job for Iain Burton, the manager of Chorographer Arlene Phillips, the co- founder of the dance group Hot Gossip, of the record label Fanfare records. In 1989 Cowell’s Fanfare records; parent company, got in to financial difficulties, forcing fanfare into the hands of BMG and Simon back into his parent’s house. He says this tragedy was the best thing that happened to him, teaching him the value of money. He then worked his way up to a position in music publishing he left to form E&S music with his boss at EMI. His Fathers connections in the business eventually got Simon rehired as the assistant to an A&R man. A little later in the year, Simon became an A&R consultant for BMG .when 2001 rolls around, Simon and two other judges star on a British show called Pop Idol, much like today’s American Idol. In 2002 Cowell set up another very successful label, SYCO records which then became a part of other labels such as Columbia Records and Sony BMG music entertainment. This was also the year American Idol premiered, naming Kelly Clarkson season one’s American Idol. In 2003 he releases a book titled, “ I don’t mean to be rude, but” about his early childhood and how he became who he is. That same year after a long search, Cowell found four men perfect for II Divo. Then the X- factor, a show off the syco records premiered in 2004. America’s got talent also began this year. Just two years later Simon became executive producer to American inventor a show seeing who can come up with the next big “it” thing on the market. In 2006 he also agreed to remain a judge on American Idol, earning a hefty check of 40 million annually. In the year 2008 a popular artist from the UK became famous in the US for her hit song bleeding love, yes Simon even signed Leona Lewis. Through out the years of his music career Simon has had many honors given to him. The judge of American Idol was presented with the accolade by theatre impresario sir Andrew Lloyd Webber during the ceremony at Royal Albert Hall. He was also presented with the life time achievement award as well. His show American Idol has been nominated for many Emmys over the years. He has won Teen Choice awards as well as an award for Special recognitions In 2006, Cowell ranked No. 29 on Forbes Magazine's "Celebrity 100 Power List." He was named one of People Magazine's 25 Most Eligible Bachelors in 2004.He was placed No.33 on channel 4’s list of all time worst Britons. He is famous for he quotes such as, "That was terrible, I mean just awful" And "My advice would be if you want to pursue a career in the music business, don't." "Did you really believe you could become the American Idol? Well, then, you're deaf." He often compares contestants to karaoke bar singers. Although he is brutal to many contestants, he might just have a heart of gold. Cowell supports animal rights and has even appeared in a video for PETA, where he reminds people not to keep their animals in the hot car when they are out and about. He has been involved in charities for children as well. He has even invited them backstage to the screenings of the x factor. After the Idol gives Back segment went on air, a close source said Simon gave his paycheck to these children in poverty. In conclusion, Simon Cowell has been a tragedy turned into a success story. He changed his bad luck in high school to a high paying job as a brutally honest judge on many shows. But is this the last we will see from him? He told a British magazine that when his contract with American idol was complete “that was it” he says” by the end of my contract the public will be sick of me.” Bibliography http://tvwatch.people.com/2008/04/08/simon-cowell-donates-pay

Any suggestions on the fairest and most correct way to sum it up. Cheers and thanks to all those who contributed! Poetichigh and Level8 thanks for the valuable input. Level 8's is probably the fairest option but someone reported my 2000 question so I don't know who voted on it unfortunately. What I will do is repost this alphabetically minus any votes and get people to choose their top ten or twenty hopefully narrowing it down to a top 100. Cheers!
2007 rap sucked? idk if it's just me, but 2007 was a horrible year for hip-hop, the biggest rap songs were "crank that", "this is why i'm hot", and "a bay bay" crank that technicly wasn't even rap, the lyrics were horrible. it was like techno with words. i think the best singles released in 2007 were "My Drink 'N My 2 Step" by Cassidy, "Baby Don't Go" - Fabolous, "Blue Magic" - Jay-Z, "Hip-Hop Police" - Chamillionaire, and "The People" by Common. The best albums were "American Gangster", "B.A.R.S.", "From Nuthin' To Somthin", and "Ultimate Victory". Nas had a greatest hits album released, and it had a pretty good list. But besides that, most of the music was bullshit. What are your opinions (explanatory) and do you think that there'll be a difference in 2008. I doubt it, but there was some tight mixtapes this year, no doubt.
The latest + hottest HOUSE/DANCE music? Where can I find the latest (2008-9 only) dance + house music online? I just want a website listing the newest music out in that genre and then I will download it else where. Cheers.
