You could only search one city at a time, and it would pull up a google map with the address and whether the listing was "active" or not... or you could use a pull down tab and get area info. What do I do if my apartment lease is dated incorrectly? This is a little complicated. I got an apartment with a friend last year that started August 1st. We got it through Chicago Apartment Finders. We were told that it was a one year lease, and signed the papers and moved in. Now we are supposed to move out August 1st, and got a lease extension form in the mail last month, but we are not going to live there after it is up. I found my lease form yesterday, and noticed that it said the lease was for 13 months. I freaked out since I've already made plans to move out August 1st. Yes it was my fault for not noticing it before I signed, BUT - Here's the thing: The lease start date says August 1st, 2009 and The lease end date says 9/31/2010. That is 14 months - not 13 like it notes underneath. So they screwed up, too. Do you think I can refute it and get to move out August 1st like planned? Or will I have troubles? What should I do? :(

Need Advice on Low Natural Light Apartment? My lease was ending last month and I was pressured to find another apartment since my then roommate's girlfriend was moving in. I just moved in to my one bedroom apartment but I am so unhappy in it because it gets barely any natural light. I am really upset about it. How do I mount a pot rack to drywall? I live in an apartment building and am trying to put up a wall mounted pot rack in the drywall. I used a stud finder to locate the studs (16" apart). Then I drilled some pilot holes and used #12 2 1/2" wood screws to mount the pot rack. Two of the screws broke off when I was screwing them in - one using a power drill, one by hand. 60% of first months rent for Finder's Fee? I am having a difficult time getting over the fact that this website is charging my best friend and I (we're moving in together) a 60% finder's fee. This will total up to $480. We looked on this website to find the apartment. On the page where the apartment was listed, it said nothing about paying a finder's fee. When we were handed the application, we were then hit with it. The application is on the website but we didn't look at it, so that's our fault it came as a surprise. What I don't get is how they are deserving of 60% when they didn't do anything. They have a website, we went and searched for ourselves, and all they did was contact us via e-mail and unlock a door for us to physically look at the place. I am not against a Finder's fee, if you found something, but if all you're doing is hosting a website and having people search for themselves. How are you deserving of 60%, let alone anything? I don't mind paying a couple hundred AT MOST, but that money could easily pay for half of next months rent. I feel they didn't do anything. I am sure they are charging the landlords an arm and a leg as well.. What do you think?

Is it possible to attend a school that is over crowed even if you are not suppose to go to that school? I moved from an apartment to a house. I had attended the school that was designated for the apartment but once I moved I was suppose to go to another school. How do you find the center of a stud using a Stanley stud finder? I'm trying to put up a wall mount for my TV and I'm having trouble getting it into the right place. Yesterday I used the stud finder and I thought I'd found the center but when I put the tv up this morning (it's a tube tv), the stand came right out of the wall. I'm a little confused as to how I find the center of the stud to put the stand up. The finder beeps and lights up when I find the edge of the stud and I marked the area next to it, but the stand came right out of the wall. Is there an easier way to find the studs or is it possible that it just can't hold my tv? I live in an apartment if that helps with anything. Apartment Network Question - Mystery Shared PC Present? I've got a Mac running solo (no other computers present) in an apartment on a recently installed cable internet connection. I'm seeing a shared folder from a Windows PC in the Finder window. (!?) Clearly, it's a neighbor. Does this always indicate someone is stealing the connection, or is it possible that a wiring mistake was made by the tech? I don't live at this particular apartment and know very little about apartment living. Should the wiring and boxes be locked down - or is it a free for all? Thanks. This is not wifi. It's a paid cable service, connected via ethernet. What I meant by "free for all" was if the wiring is exposed so any tenant could simply hijack your connection. This is not an apartment hosted service. This is an independently contracted service with the local cable co who came out to hook it up.

Finding studs in a popcorn ceiling? I would like to move my chandelier over, but I need to make sure it's secured in the wooden beams above. I called our apartment complex and they are not sure which way the beams run. I do have a stud finder, but I'm not sure if it will work once it's horizontal on the ceiling, and even if it does, we can't run it along popcorn ceilings like we could if they were flat. The tenants moved into my apartment a week ago and just sent me an email explaining that they wanted to install window blinds. I, myself, am not completely sure if I should pay the full cost myself, if we should split the cost, or if my tenants should pay the full cost. On one hand, the rent that we agreed to was based on the apartment not having blinds (and the expenses I estimated ahead of time which helped me figure out what rent to advertise, didn't include any payments for blinds). On the other hand, my tenants didn't even get to look at the apartment themselves as they moved from a different city and had an apartment finder company look at the place for them....plus, they will only get use out of the blinds for a year or two, whereas the blinds will add to the value of my apartment as well as to the appeal of my apartment to future prospective tenants. So do you think I should pay for the blinds in full, split the cost with my tenants, or have the tenants pay for the blinds in full? And why? Thanks! Just another detail to point out - the windows are quite large and the blinds that the tenants would get would need to be professionally installed and wouldn't fit at the tenants' place they move to after my apartment....not to mention, in the email, the tenants specifically referred to how the "blinds will always remain with the apartment" (he mentioned this because I think he wanted to see if I had any input on what brand/design of blinds to get).

The listing stated that there is central air conditioning, and when I went to use it last week, it did not work. The landlord never bought another one. What is my recourse? The lease does not specify that the apartment has AC, but it does say all appliances and finishes. The listing for the apartment specifically says it though. I really want to stay here, I just want the landlord to provide AC like it is supposed to have. Am I legally able to withhold rent under Chicago RLTO? Is $75-$100 too much? I pay $1500/mo. The other two tenants say that they have sent him certified letters and he has not answered them. It is going to get very warm soon, and I want to get the situation rectified ASAP!

Where can I find duplexes, fourplexes, etc etc for rent? Ive look on rent.com, apartment finder, apartments.com, etc etc etc, but I havent exactly found what Im looking for. I know for a fact that they dont always put ALL not even most of the apartments that are for rent on these sites or even in the news paper. And for some reason I am having the hardest time finding fourplexes, tri plexes, etc etc for RENT, not sale. So does anybody on here know of a hidden or secret place where they put the more listings at? ( other websites, etc etc ) Thanks

I need advice on moving out of my city.? I'm about to be a Senior in August. I live in a small town, about three hours way from Austin, Texas. I've always wanted to live there so me and my two/or three friends are going to move there when we graduate. One of my friends already lives there, but she is moving back this weekend with her Dad. I'm planning on moving that summer after graduation. I'm getting my Licenses in Cosmetology as soon as I graduate but I also want to take Interior Design classes in Austin. Does anyone no of any good priced, nice, apartments in Fullerton California? Or San Gabriel Valley? I need to move in ASAP, but me and my girlfriend are low on funds, so or monthly rental cost is no more than $950 max. We would also like it to be pet friendly because we have a 50 pound dog, and it is really hard to find cheap nice Apts. that allow that size of a dog. We searched all the apartment finders and websites, but most have bad ratings and don't allow pets. So my last resort is to ask the knowledgeable yahoo community that resides in the San Gabriel Valley and mid-class Orange County. Getting another apt ? ok im looking at getting another apt because the last one we had was in a bad area and my car was broken into twice so we broke the lease which was back in may. Restoring to factory settings on Vista? I have an HP Pavilion s7700n PC running Vista and recently had some virus problems.... The virus scanners say I've removed the virus, but the pc is still very slow. I have a spy-bot remover that also handles spyware, adware, and malware so that is not the problem.... But now, in addition to being incredibly slow, IE pops up on its own with some website for an apartment finder and I can't get that to stop.... I'd like to just restore the whole pc back to the factory settings since I cannot do a system restore. When I try to do system restore it comes back with an unspecified error. Could these be signs that someone is being abused? She shakes and gets anxious when it is almost time for him to get home. She runs through the house like a chicken with its head cut off making sure everything is just so. She gets quiet whenever I bring him up and says he's really a good guy, just temperamental. I've seen bruises on her arms and legs occasially. She doesn't fix herself up anymore, sometimes hardly showers. She used to be a lot more active in life, now she seems unmotivated and apathetic. She is failing school, tragically. She used to have a GPA of 3.8 I'd hate to see what it is now. She might get financial aid restriction. I know some real estate agecies charge no finders fees on apartments but what is reasonable if you must pay? I am already working with a reputable agency in the North End of Boston and they want to charge finders fee equal to one months rent. Is this reasonable?

Moving to Florida? Me and my boyfriend will be moving to FL soon. We need to find a place in Orlando which is not far from University of Central Florida, and FAMU school of law which is also in Orlando. We've done all the searches on apatment finder, apartment guide, etc. We've done all that but the apartments seem to be in dangerous areas. What breed to you think? I'm going to get a dog (at least 2 years old) from pet finder. I live in an apartment, my house mate already has a male Pomeranian 2 years old and while I do love the pom, I'd like a smarter dog!! How do I mount a TV to a wall without studs? In my apartment the only place to mount my TV is above the fireplace. After several conversation with the apt. managers, two different stud finders, and more pilot nails than I care to talk about I can definatively say that there are no studs in the wall above my fireplace. It is a non-load bearing wall so I guess that the framers felt they could save some money there. Currently my only solution is to run a 2 X 10 across from the studs at the edges of the fireplace secured in place 3/8" lag screws. Then mount the TV to the 2 X 10. Will this work and does anyone have any other Ideas.

It went on for 5 years and I had panic attacks for years to come until they stopped at 16. I would not let anybody touch me for a long time. I recently moved to a new city with my mom and am still in the closet but have come out to my second cousin and his girlfriend who are in their 20‘s. They promised they would keep my secret as they are the only other people who know I am gay, and now they just phased me out of their life. In the time I was their friend, I saw what I have missed out on in my 20’s and relationships and friends and life in general. In the time I shared their friendship, I realized just how socially inept I have become and don’t know life at all. I became to clingy and they dumped me. I don't see them anymore and I am back in the place I have been my whole life. At 35, I have no job skills, am 365lbs, and feel that I have waited to long to find love with another man.
