I am a stay at home mom and have worked in the past. I have recently relocated about a year ago and would like to get working again. I've done all the online, newspaper, and whatever else you can think of to find a job but no one has called back. I need a job to help my husband support my family and cover daycare of 260.00 a week about. Why is it that no one will give me a chance???????

  2. It may be worth it to hire a Headhunter. They can find jobs that aren't posted anywhere. Good luck!
  3. try Craigs list, careerbuilders,jobing.com, or internet search"jobs".
  4. You could also try the temporary agencies. Many times they have jobs that can go permanent. Just remember you are paying $13,000 a year on child care.
  5. keep trying. you'll sure get one. else, advertise in the newspaper that you are offering your services.
  6. You need to start hitting the pavement, so to speak. Get out try to get your foot in the door by other means -- friends, associations, etc.
  7. You are doing the right things as far as applying. The other thing that is very important is to call the people you have sent your resume to. I had the same problem. I would apply at tons of jobs and nobody called back. If you can put a voice to the name it helps. Give them a call and say that you wanted to see how the hiring process was coming along and would like to be sure they had a chance to go over your resume. This helped for me.

  9. depends on what jobs you are applying for. Remember no matter what job you apply for, there is always someone more qualified. That's just how it goes out here. I'd recommend taking a few classes at the local community college based on the field you are interested in. But simply because you've been a stay at home mom doesn't take you out of the running for these jobs. You just have to know how to use that at-home experience to your advantage when you put it on your resume. Stay at home mom experience can work wonders, you just have to apply for certain jobs. And there are jobs out there that a stay at home mom can EXCEL at, and those companies out there know that. Check out jobs in the restaurant industry as a hostess or server. And more importantly, stay at home moms can juggle several tasks at once with confidence and less stress, making you an excellent receptionist, secretary, or office assistant. Just make sure in your resume and application, add "Stay At Home Mom" to the work history section. It'll help them remember you, and they may even joke about it, and ask you in for an interview just so you can explain more. And when they ask, say, "being a stay at home mom IS a full time job... I've been patient in very stressful situations, the ability to stay organized and prioritize on a day to day basis is vital to make sure my children and my home are happy". It can provide a basis for a great ice-breaker, and lead to great conversations in an interview. But more importantly they'll look at your application and get curious. Use your at-home experience and turn it into skills and abilities that look good on an application or your resume. A second look from employers is great. And don't forget to follow up after a few days. Phone calls help because you don't want your application to get lost in the pile. Staffing agencies help also because they find jobs for you. And they have PLENTY of secretarial positions that you would be perfect for.
  10. Try the employment agencies. Then there is the hard way, hit the pavement, you might go into the right place at the right time.
