In your opinion, how effective are job websites like Hotjobs.com, etc, at getting people together with jobs?
What's the real value of these websites, if any? Have you or others you know found significant employment through any of them? Personally, I have found that face-to-face job hunting is still the most effective way, percentage-wise.

- Not effective at all in my opinion, they never seem to contact anyone who posts their resume.
- My friend Jason didn't find a job, but he sure did find a lot of spam in his Inbox (I think he used Monster.com).
- I have got several calls from job web sites and even got my first job via a website so I will say their effectiveness depends on ourselves - simply because out of the loads of scrap CV they search and find your CV should stand out. It should have all the search "key words" that people can possible put in relation to your job so that your CV pops up in every search. For employers its effective since they get so many selections (even though most of it is junk) at a cheaper price. (i did work on the same web site that got me the job for years). so to sum up i can say its good to hire for or up to middle level positions from web sites while for senior and key positions you still need the old head hunting approach. Hope this answers your query.
