  1. Most colleges in the US offer the Federal Work-Study program. You end up working for the college and the pay is subsidized by the government, thus inflating the wages. Keep in mind as well that as a student worker you will be exempt from social security payroll taxes, increasing your bottom line. Not to mention, many of the jobs offered at colleges are "busy" jobs, where you can basically be paid to sit and do your homework. Always consider any job you can get at your college before looking for outside jobs, if you're a full-time student. Of course, a highly paid internship would still be better. In engineering fields, you can get paid upward of $60k (annual salary) for an internship in some instances.
  2. I would check out a site such as http://www.teenjobsection.com they have information on how to get jobs, and they have job postings from lots of employers on there site.
  3. Alright, let's talk about job at UPS. 99% of employees at UPS start as a part time loader or unloader, and average start pay is $8.50/hr., and gurentee 3.5 hours a day, normally they don't want you to work more than 6 hours a day, becasue it is overtime pay rate after 6th hour. Total you will get between 17.5~30 hours a week depending how busy they are, $148.75~$255.00 weekly before tax. First, are you going to make UPS as your career?? Do you want to become a full time UPS driver or a UPS full time management team member?? If your answer is Yes, you should go for it. It doesn't matter what major you are study in, or how high your education is, there is always a suitable job for anyone if you want to stay there forever. And they do provide some fund to help student pay for the tuition, maybe $3000.00~$4000.00 a year. Second, if you only want some extra money to spend during the weekend, I suggest that you go somewhere else to find job instead of wasting time at UPS, making $8.50, sweat like a dog, load or unload a whole trailer by yourself, yelled by somebody who was younger than you maybe, it is not worth it. Three, if you are married, have kids, my suggestion is work for UPS, they have one of the best benefit on the planet, all the medical is covered by the company, you, your spouse, your hundreds of kids, they do all cover, no matter you are a part time or full time employee, THEY ARE ALL COVERED. Four, if you are single, just want to get a job while you are seeking for a better one, do not go, again, it is waste time. Finally, you should consider your future, and picture your goal, so you know you should go for it or not. By the way, I don't think they are hiring now, because of the slow economic, and too many competitions, if they do, they won't hire too many. Good luck!!
