i just turned sixteen. i have some questions about employment and jobs?

i'm looking for a job now since most fastfood places and stores will hire at sixteen. i was just wondering if i needed a work permit. someone told you that you have to get one from your school guidance counselor before you can work anywhere, but if i do need one, school is out, so i can't get one! i also was wondering which of these places you would recomend working at. all of these places are near me and i am fairly certain that they hire at the age of sixteen. i am going to apply to all of them, but which ones would be the best places for me to work at: walmart mcdonalds sonic giant eagle shop n save eat n park tj maxx kings famous footwear wendys taco bell target & many many other places, so if you have another place that you'd like to reccomend, i probably have one near me. all of the answers will be greatly apreciated! thank you :-) i live in pennsylvania if the permit matters there

  1. It depends on your state. Some places might require a permit while others dont. I know Arizona doesnt because a girl I know who is 15 just got a job at coldstone and she didnt need a permit. I would either work at target or coldstone. Fast food places arent all that great because the working conditions arent the healthiest. And shoe stores wouldnt be too great because usually you only have a few people come in within an hour so that would get really boring.
  2. SONIC they will hire you and you wont need a permit the one near my house pays $6 a hour starting off (at alot of places you dont need a permit) just a picture ID or Drivers licence if you have one and your Social Security Number hope i have helped
  3. I'm not sure what state your in but in NY they have what they call a youth program that places teens on summer jobs and helps you with getting a working permit. If you don't want to work for the summer youth program they have a listing of available jobs. If you are not sure if you have this program ask at the nearest employment office where you live. Good luck and have a great summer.
