Career in the cruise line industry?

I'm trying to decide if a career in the cruise industry is for me. I could really use some advice from someone who has experienced it first hand.

1. It's a great way to live if you don't mind being away from home for the basic 6 month contract... once you are on the boat.. you are on the boat. Uniforms, food and entertainment are furnished by the cruise line. AND... you get to meet a lot of very interesting people
