going back to college at 33?

I have desided to go back to school to become a vet tech. I have graduated college with an AAS in computer software but it wasn't my passion and it hasn't worked out for me at all. My family is happy and says I should go. Hubby's family thinks I shouldn't because the last private school I went to didn't work. This school, yes its private, Western Career College, is differnt, much different. They seem to be a real school unlilke that last school. This time I did research and have called hospitals around to make sure they hire from that school and they all say they do. I do have a student loan in a - balance but my parents are willing to help me again with this school so I won't take out any loans, cant. Do I go? This is really something I have always wanted to do but I'm afraid it will be faliure #2 THANK YOU!

  1. Look.... you only live life once and to be honest no matter how hard you have to work to find a job or career that you love it is worth it. Your parents are willing to help you and thats more than you can say for many parents... I'm 19 working paying for my college and I'm not eligible for financial aid because my mom didn't put me on her income taxes and told me after the due date was up... and I'm busting my butt to get str8 A's because one day I want to be a writer. For the rest of your life your going to be working or doing something productive and the best way to live is doing something you love. Love and passion is the best. Try it out and if you really like it work hard for it and in the end it's worth it. I understand your hubby is looking at it from his "realistic"point of view but I doubt he really understands how hard you are willing to work for it and just how much it will benefit you at the end. Go for it, don't look back, and don't regret because if it turns out to not be what you wanted you can try again that's what life is all about experiencing new things and living through trial and error so that you can keep learning til the day your 6 feet under. Good luck!
  2. I live in Colorado and there is such a need for Vet techs. I think it would be such a rewarding career! DO IT! and the best of luck to you.
  3. I went back to school at 42...I'm 49 and in a new career and very glad I did it. If you think about it hard and search your heart and they both agree...why not! You don't want to be regretting not making the decision now...your life situation may change later on and it may not be as convenient as it is now. Good luck to you!!
