How do the creators of Craigslist make money?

How do you make money creating a webpage similiar to craigslist and backpage without asking for money to post?

1. people and companies pay to adfvertise on the craigslist site
2. Its sole source of revenue is paid job ads in select cities ($75 per ad for the San Francisco Bay Area; $25 per ad for New York; Los Angeles; San Diego; Boston; Seattle; Washington D.C., and paid broker apartment listings in New York City ($10 per ad)).
3. Eshwar is right; the background is that six years ago we asked people what was the right way to make some money to pay the bills, etc. They said charge people who otherwise are paying more money for less effective ads, specifically okay to charge recruiters, employers, real estate agents, etc. ... though we've monetized a tiny fraction of the site.
