Is medical coding hard to learn???
Hi I want to take this on-line accredited program, but i was wondering if this career is difficult to learn? Has anyone heard of US CAREER INSTITUTE?

- it's a lot of memorizing codes and know what medical terms are associated with them. If you are of at least average intelligence or if you think are average or smart, then no it's not hard to learn if you don't mind studying and can memorize large amounts of information.
- Please steer clear of those online, for profit schools such as university of phoenix, strayer and (most likely) us career institute as they are merely out to 'make a profit'. The field of medical coding is said to be difficult to gain employment as it is and most need a few years experience doing coding tasks to get a job as a coder. I believe that a person also needs certification(s) as a coder to work with that title. If really wanting to go to school, please choose a more affordable program such as the county vo-tech school or community college (perhaps non credit course) as opposed to private $$$ schools :) A friend works in medical billing and there aren't even too many jobs for the medical biller. And the coding comes with a lot of liability as the facility can get a hefty fine if coded improperly, just fyi. US colleges: http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ
