I live in NZ so everything else is different compared the folks in the US. I am my second to last year ( year 12 ) repeating mostly year 11 subjects because i failed and didnt get enough NCEA Credits for Level 1 ( National Cetificate of Education 1) , ive already made plans, ive planned to study at school until i get my NCEA 2 and leave and go for a apprenceship in IT for a year ( you study and get payed ), then go to the local insitiute and study 2-3 years so i can get a diploma/degree in IT . I wanna be a IT Techician/Consultant. Alot of people at my high school drop out and head and study somewhere else. I am taking mostly subjects that arent benefiting me and have taken subjects i dont really need because the subjects i have taken arent necessary to get into my career. But i barely learn anything,i cant focus, i am sick of school it just doesnt teach me anything and i think im just wasting my time. I get bad grades mostly and sometimes good.. but i am very excited into progressing my education elsewhere. Since school just isnt teaching me everything and i just slack off mostly, i know i wont be able to focus. But i still unsure . I have discussed with my mother and she has agreed. My older sister is on her last year finishing her university bacholor degree. But i know i wont be able to handle going to University, my grades and my laziness will reframe me going to Uni,plus i will have to stay an extra year at high school to get to Uni with great grades and NCEA level 3. I hear they pick only 50-100 people out of 150 into University. But i been thinking for a while and decided to do a career in IT. But i am unsure if you should progress it or not. Alot of people i know have left school and are studing elsewhere and they said that it was the best decision ever and that its very enjoyable compared to school. So do you think i should progress my education elsewhere after i get NCEA 2?Is it a smart decision?
