How do you apply for section 8 housing in Michigan??

I would like to know how to apply for section 8 housing in SouthEast Michigan. If you have any input on how to do this it is greatly appriciated. My daughter will be born soon and i hope to have my own place before or soon after that. Thank you and i will choose the best answer!!!

  1. You need to contact the housing authority in your area and ask about getting on the waiting list. I've read that there are several places in Michigan where they're not even taking names for the waiting list anymore because of overwhelming demand. You still need some kind of income - you can't just get rental assistance because you want out of your parents' house.
