- Of course not.
- Wait lists are HUGE in Canada in most places they generally run a couple years or longer for low income - it can vary though depending on where you are. There are also qualifications required. There may also be cooperatives - I'm moving into a student cooperative this fall, but requires work. You might be able to work out an arrangement with an individual landlord as well. But the answer would be no in general as far as I'm aware but there are equivalents - due to the extra national situation - between US and Canada. Usually application requires residence but you can try putting in a wait list application ahead of time or contact the locality you plan on moving to ahead of time --- residence may be a requirement for application though - oddly enough. It would likely depend on a case by case basis. CIC - canada immigrations may be able to help you out with housing if you are an immigrant - I'm not sure how they do it but I think they will provide you with basics if you are a refugee. If you can find a cooperative it's wait list may not be as large. There are also temporary housing arrangements available in some locals that are at welfare rates (350 or so for a shared double suite (two rooms and common area or 700$ cad/month and the like. it varies. The student double dorm coop I'm in costs me about $350 a month as well obviouslly a little less than room than the welfare housing (considering I'm sharing a double room with someone), but it's closer to school.
- obviously not. They're 2 different countries.
- No. Who do you think pays for that? American Taxpayers.
