Where is there absolutely free information on getting a housing/personal or small business grant?

I live in Monroe County,Michigan. I am seriously looking into a way to develop a brand new income due to a recent auto accident I was involved in. I have been removed from the ability to work labor/factory jobs and want to start my own small business or get a somewhat large personal use grant,government or state provided it doesn`t matter. Everywhere I look on the internet to apply for such has a charge. In other words, I know I can start a small business with very little $$ its just where and how do I apply for such grants without paying another company for the information. Once again, I am looking to develop a new career(small business) or get a personal-use grant to get out on my own and invest into one of many catagories of my choice.
