Can a exfelon reside in low income housing such as projects or Hud housing with his wife and kids ?

My friend is about to get out of prison ,he went to prison for assulting someone that hurt his kid.He said he may not be able to live with his wife and kids due to this charge. He has never been in trouble before this incident .

  1. Yes he can, most of the laws apply to sex offenders. Now if the terms of residence say no felons, then no. I depends on teh housing guidelines. Additionally, there may be terms of parole that limit where he can live which will supercede everything.
  2. AS long as he meets all the requirements of release their shouldnt be a problem. Was he in for any kind of sexual charge? If not I wouldnt think so. If he has counseling and he goes and if the judge imposed any other sentence like comm service and he complies he should be just fine. as long as he stays out of trouble.
  3. Sure. If they removed all the felons from low income housing there would be a lot of vacancies.
  4. I know that Hud has very strict laws that pretty much forbid exfelons from ever receiving low income housing. Most exfelons have to live in projects and on streets near homeless shelters in order to survive.I use to volunteer at a homeless shelter and most of the men where exfelons ,if they where eligible for housing ,more than 50 percent would never return back to prison. Our goverment knows this, and knows that exfelons are not going to find housing in good areas unless they have a girl friend or wife or someone to open a door
