Is it true that only women with children can apply for housing authority?

my mother says that a guy cant apply for housing and im like thats discrimination against men and then she says u have to have a child.. why would you have to have a child to leave on housing authority sombody elaborate or tell me what i can do

1. I manage low income housing and no, you don't have to have children. I have several single men living at my complex. There are some where you have to have children but not most. Your rent is normally based on 30% of your monthly income. That is gross income.
2. A man can apply for it. But it is usually women with a child or children. If a man is by himself he can get a place its just him that shouldn't be too hard. Or they usually get a room mate.
