What type of equipment and stuff do I need to start something like craigslist?

I want to start something like craigslist, something small and local, and want to know who do I contact and what type of equipment do I need to get started? What is the average startup cost for such venture? Please help. I don't know much about computers but am willing to learn if you just point the way. Thanks...

1. First off, you will either need a web server that is always on (or get a host for yourself). You also need to estimate how much advertising you will do so you can get the right amount of bandwidth necessary so your server is not full of requests. ____________________________________ When you run a server yourself, make sure you understand the charges with your Internet service provider for over-usage (if any). Also, you gotta have DSL or a fast connection. _____________________________________ While some people dislike HP, I think they're a great company for computers. You also have to know what OS the server will run (Linux, Windows, etc..) For reference, I think Google uses stripped down versions of Linux. Basic Costs: -Domain Name: Around $100/month for 1 GB of bandwidth/storage. Prices will vary and go as low as 10 bucks in some cases. -Or host your own site: Get a server (maybe one with Windows Server 2003). 512MB of Memory, 8 GB Max Memory. These start at around $600. Contact HP maybe they can give you estimates of what it would be for such a venture. They know more than me.
