Can anyone tell me where to find affordable housing in the Houston/Galveston Bay area?

I am moving to the Galveston County area of the Gulf Coast, and I am tryin g to find affordable rental properties. I can't afford to buy a home just yet, and I cant pay more than $1000 a month for rent. Please help, I dont want to live in a bad neighborhood!

3. It depends on where you want to live. there are tons of affordable apartment complexes in town. The Park at Cedar Lawn is a nice place but you play all utilities, which makes it a little expensive. Villa Marina is all bills paid and it's close to the beach. As for houses, anywhere on the West end is way expensive, and the closer you get to the Seawall or the Strand, the more expensive it gets.
