Affordable housing list in Dublin?

I'm on the affordable housing list in Dublin and Dun Laoghaire since last year. I was wondering how long it takes? Have many of you been on these lists and got a house/apt? If you could fill me in as wondering how much longer can wait, thanks! :)

1. why dont you ring up and ask they should be able to tell you how long of a wait you have left good luck
2. The number of people on the list should be on the web site. They have to make the information public, its law but as Council Web sites goes Dublin's is the worst I have seen and cant find the information to help you. I have posted the link for you if you want to try. It looks like the Council are using a points based system, you get more points for having more needs. The higher your points the quicker you are housed. You can also pone the department and they should be able to give you an indictaion of how long you might have to wait.
3. Good luck! I was on the list in Sydney a few years ago and was told it was a 10 (ten) year wait. No good to me because by than time my children would be grown and the housing wouldn't look at me then. Was lucky to find another Community Housing project and was accommodated within about 6 weeks. Much nicer too, 3 bedroom house, where I can now stay for life, where as with the other one, I would only have been offered a 2 bedroom flat and then would have been moved into a bed-sitter when my children had moved out.
