Relocation to London England?

I will be relocating to London, England soon for work. Are there any London Relocation Services that anyone can suggest? I know of Apartment Finder UK, but am looking more for some kind of UK relocation specialists. Have been considering apartments in North East London, possibly Kensington.

  1. Hi, as a regular re-locater and a Londoner too, I thought I would kick start your replies! You don't say how familiar you are with London or with large cities in general. Do you positively have to get help with the relocation through a specialist? The fees can be quite varied and my own experience shows that my time spent managing/chasing agents is time I could have arranged much of the work myself. Flat hunting is the most arduous task - perhaps if you were to provide more specific requirements, I could help point you in the right direction. I work in property (non-UK) and have a number of contacts who work in lettings in London - they are already making a commission on lettings so it's a free service to you. Many relocation agents are also getting commissions and charging you for that privilege. Fortunately, many letting agents are used to working with international clients so aspects that could prove a nuisance, like local credit checks, can be negotiated. They will also take photos, provide floorplans and advise on the area. The other practicalities (such as moving belongings) can be best handled through a local (to you) firm that uses a partner in London. Other items such as power, banking, phone and internet service will either be arranged by the letting agents (London buyers are increasingly demanding) or quite easily started before you arrive. When choosing an area, consider your commute time and the surroundings you are used to. Most London boroughs are comprised of quite distinct neighbourhoods. If you put together a hotlist of what you want and need, I'm sure myself or others could help you narrow it down. I've worked in media for my former career and lived very central to London to help with the commute and social life. Notting Hill, Soho, Westbourne Park - they all suited me. Kensington is a decent neighbourhood and you'll have an international neighbour without fail. You'll also have plenty of shops, restaurants and parks on your doorstep. As long as it's not 'West Kensington'. Anyway, I hope that helps a little. Matto
