Could these be signs that someone is being abused?

She shakes and gets anxious when it is almost time for him to get home. She runs through the house like a chicken with its head cut off making sure everything is just so. She gets quiet whenever I bring him up and says he's really a good guy, just temperamental. I've seen bruises on her arms and legs occasially. She doesn't fix herself up anymore, sometimes hardly showers. She used to be a lot more active in life, now she seems unmotivated and apathetic. She is failing school, tragically. She used to have a GPA of 3.8 I'd hate to see what it is now. She might get financial aid restriction. I've sometimes seen her fishing through apartment finders, despondently, saying things like, without him she couldn'y afford the place, or any other. I've overheard him make comments to her like, "Why can't you just be normal?" or "You're truly pathetic." and "Before you met me, you could barely take care of yourself." She's called me before in tears, but beat around the bush about a lot of things. She doesn't sound like herself anymore. Just very feeble and extremely agitated and shell shocked. The slightest noise makes her jump. Am I safe in thinking there's more to her story than she's telling me? She's taking antidepressants. Her boyfriend doesn't know. She doesn't want him to,

1. yes, please go tell someone and help her. she doesn't deserve to be treated that way.

3. i hate to say this but i think your friend is. those are the tell tale signs. have you ever asked her about it? cause your toying with a very destructive situation.

5. This is sooooooooo sad. YES sounds like he has been very verbally and physically abusive to her. It also sound like he has her so scared to do anything it will be very hard for her to get the courage to leave this jerk. Id contact a battered women's shelter and ask them how you can advise her. And hopefully she can get the courage to dump the bastard before he kills her or she kills herself.
