I need help finding a puppy to adopt!!?

You see, i keep going to petfinger.com but i cant seem to find a pet closest to me to adopt. I'm only 16, and my mom wants me to get a pomeranian. I really dont care what breed it is as long as its small, and i'd rather adopt one. I live in a small apartment in Bronx, New York. In pet finder they normally have the pet im looking for but its normally in albany or new jersey (too far for me, i dont drive, dont have any means of transportation). Does any one know where i can adopt a puppy near Manhattan, Bronx, Queens, or even Brooklyn??

  1. Look up pet shelters in your phone book and check out the ones closest to you. They always have excellent puppies and kittens who need a good home.
  2. I recommend checking the first link and letting them know what you're looking for. They may know a needy dog in your area. Look up other pom breed rescues. They often have volunteers that will drive a dog all the way across the country to get it to its new home so ask if it is possible. Also, contact all of the shelters that are close enough (look in the phone book), leave your name and number, and ask them to call you if a pomeranian comes in. Let them know you're willing to wait so they don't think you're just gonna forget about it tomorrow. Also contact the humane society as they often have large numbers of small breeds come in from collectors and BYBs and they REALLY need homes for them. They just don't have room for the numbers they collect from hoarders.
  3. look though the newspaper ad
  4. go to pom rescue on line and see what they have also have humane society in NYC.alot of groups will help the dog get to you.
  5. hahaha lol u said pet finger , NOT..... I HAVE A GREAT IDEA mabey u should go online and check at ur nearest kennel/pound P.S. most pets on petfinder.com already have homes I THOUGHT U WANTED TO ADOPT wat r stray homless sad helpless dogs NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR U!!!OR CHECK NEWSPAPER ADS!!
  6. CHECK OUT THE LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTERS
  7. I have a suggestion. Why don't you get a location of the ASPCA in your location if your in New York you have if there they are always adopting puppies and dogs in your area. I cannot remember what that stands for but, there the Animal Police in your Area they have a police show that comes on the Animal channel. I gurantee you will find something if you go through them good luck and trust me on that.
  8. LOL You are trying t find a specific breed a Pomeranian to "adopt" right in your back yard and you want a puppy? LOL Do you think all the sudden their are tons of pure bred Pomeranian puppies that are homeless? Find a good Pom breeder and get a pom with a good temperament you will be MUCH happier. Most of the poms you will find in a shelter will be older dogs with issues.
  9. Go to http://www.luckystarcavalierrescue.org/ We have two King Charles Cavalier Spaniels, they are small dogs, not barkers, low maintenance, your basic, loveable, lap dog, just want to cuddle. Lucky Star has adoptions all over the United States. They have people all over who foster these dogs till someone adopts them (like us we got two) and takes them to their "forever homes." These dogs are rescues from puppy mills.
  10. Try WaggyTailRescue, they have a website and are located in Manhattan, and specialize in Small Dogs.
