I am putting together a magazine in california and want to know where I am allowed to distrubute them?

I am going to have a magazine rack. I will not be handing them out personally. They are free of charge for consumers to take. I understand that if they are within an establishment I have to have their permission to put them in there. But I was looking at putting them on public ground, like a trolley stop. Am I allowed to put them out? Do I have to have permission? If so, who? There are other publications that are already out their like apartment guides, so obviously it is doable. I just need to know if I need permission, and if so who gives it?

  1. You can't post them on government property (including telephone polls) without written permission, but you can pass them out on the street or deliver them to doorsteps like many supermarkets and resturaunts do.
