How do I find out how earthquake resistant the apartment I rent is?

I rent an apartment in San Francisco. It looks pretty modern, however when I looked up the house - it says that it was built in 1917. I imagine that it has been renovated since then (I'm guessing there was no central air or garages in 1917), but I'm not sure when the last time the apartment was renovated. As a renter, are there any resources where I can determine how "new" my apartment is, and how it will deal with a major earthquake? Thanks,

  1. City Planning & Building dept. should have records. I wouldn't be too sure they did more than AC and Garages BUT, maybe when they did the Renovation the City said they needed to upgrade also...does it have Sprinklers?
