How can I get money back when I rent an apartment?

I know that apartment locators get money when I rent an apartment through them...how can I get some of that back?

  1. You can't.
  2. what is an apt locator...you don't ever give money to someone to find you a place to live....do it on your own.... will you get your money back...NO--sounds like a scam good luck :)
  3. Apartment locators shouldn't actually be charging you any money, but should receive a kickback from the apartment management for sending business their way.
  4. File for Homestead with your income tax returns. for more info...see the following link...
  5. What do you mean by apartment locator? Do you mean like Rent.com or something like that? You can't get any of that money if there is any. Just do the work yourself. It really isn't that hard.
  6. It's not your money to get. The incentive for you to go through an apartment locator is move-in specials, discounts and less searching. That's the money you save. The money they get is like a commission for bringing business to apts. they are in partnership with. Most apt. locator ads will say things like "mention us and get 1/2 off the first month's rent". They're the middle man.
  7. you don't...that's their money not yours.
  8. What's wrong with you people? A simple search on Google or Yahoo reveals multiple websites that offer incentives such as cash back for renting an apartment through them. Some are just internet based and some also have real people, apartment locators, on staff that you can talk to and that will help you find an apartment. I like apartmentsearch dot com because they have both options, but, like I said, do a search and you will find several others...that's how you get money back when you rent an apartment.
