how can i get a company to stop calling me other than using the do not call list?

I'd like to get this company to stop calling me but being that I have done business with them before, I cannot use the do not call list. Telling them not to call or take me off of their calling list doesn't work. Any suggestions?

  1. When they call, put them on hold and place the phone in front of the tv for about ten minutes or until they hang up. Keep doing that, they will quit calling.
  2. You must register for the "Do Not Call List" in your state. Then you must tell the person calling you that you are on that list (Get the person's name from the company calling you, and address them by name) then you must tell them to take you off their calling list. I think by law, they have another 30 days to stop calling you. Then you can report an abuse charge against them...But make sure you look into it in the "State" you live in, check the laws. Good Luck.
  3. If it is a business and not a creditor, when they call, ask to speak to a manager and tell him you have repeatedly asked them to stop calling you and that this is the last notice to remove your number. Tell him the next time he will be speaking to your attorney. (people have successfully sued for this sort of thing). Then use call block on your phone to block their calls. One note... if you tell them to not call, then use a coupon or rebate at that place, it can re-instate you on their call list. Some businesses have fine print on these sort of things that say by using the coupon/rebate you authorize them to call you with specials, etc. I have also heard of people blowing a loud, sharp whistle into the callers ear!
  4. As long as they're telemarketing, they should put you on their do not call list. If they are calling specifically about your account.. there is nothing you can do. If they're just calling to upgrade service or re-sell something, ask them again to put you on a the do not solicit list. If that doesn't work, ask immediately to speak to a supervisor. And if that still doesn't work, look into filing a formal complaint. If you're on the national or state do not call list, it may not include them because you have done business with them, so you will have to go to them directly. Note every time you ask them to but you on the dns list, and take the name of the person calling.
  5. if you owe them money they will keep calling. If not saying take me off should work and if they call back ask to speak to a manager and tell them you are filling charges they stop after that. I have done it before
