List Only

What are the laws regarding the "Do not call list"?

A company called Cardholder Services has repeatedly called my house. I have asked to be taken off of thier call list FIVE times and I have documented dates and times of four of the phone calls from them since the 29th of November. The call comes in Unavailable and when you answer you get an automated message that says press 9 to speak to an operator and lower your credit card interest rate, or press 8 to be removed from our call list. If you press 8 it tells you that is an invalid option. So I press 9 and a person answers, I tell them to take me off thier call list and they say "Ok, thank you" then they hang up every time. What can i do about this harrassing company?

  1. Unfortunately, I think Congress has ruled "do not call" lists unconstitutional.
  2. If you are on the DoNotCall Registry, then I suggest you file a complaint with them at https://www.donotcall.gov/Complain/ComplainCheck.aspx. In a response to the first poster, the DoNotCall list was upheld as Constitutional by the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court has upheld that decision. 3. I am on the "Do not call" list & only receive calls from non-profit organizations. This is allowed under the "Do not call" set-up. My advice is to call the Better Business Bureau & ask who you need to contact to have these calls stopped. You get no where calling the do not call number. I did that & they just signed me up again!
  4. ok i used to work for a telemarketing company when that do not call list was started a few years back... What you are supposed to say is remove me from the list and u are supposed to be removed u may recieve 1 call or 2 after that any more than that is considered harrassment... The next time that they call tell them u told them over and over to remove your name and number from the call list if you recieve another call u are going to get them for harrassment. i have seen a case where in fact the company i was working for did get sued for harrassment and that's not good on their behalf. so try that and make sure they know u are being serious that what they are doing is considered harrassment. I am attending college for law now so...
