- There are no grants for purchasing homes. Tax payers do not invest tax money for your profit. Do you think you should be paying for my property? There are government backed LOANS, ask any loan officer.
- Not from HUD. The Housing and Urban Development in their Grants Available page makes it clear that they do not provide grants to individuals -- hence no grants for a person to buy a home http://www.hud.gov/grants/index.cfm ------------------------------------ "While HUD does not offer direct grants or loans to individuals, we do work through local governments and non-profit organizations to make financial assistance and counseling available." ------------------------------------ Your best bet is to check with your state if they have housing assistance programs for first time homebuyers. Or check out non profits, who are the recipients of most housing grants. Check out Habitat for Humanity. You can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two FREE sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support your purposes. But there are no grants for individuals purchasing a home
- Most of the housing grants are called "bond money". THey are issued by cities and counties. Usually they are to get people to buy or build in certain areas that the city wants to improve. There is little warning about these grants. They may be for only 20 houses and the money is gone in 24 hours. TO make it more difficult, different city departments may have their own "bond money". So you have to watch the newspapers for notice. Most grants have to be paid back plus interest if you sell the house within 7 years. That is why i will never use them. everyone thinks they will stay forever but everyone moves before 7 years.
