moving to austin, with a HUGE dog, PLEASE HELP!!?

I'm moving to austin in about a month, and i have a 150 lb english mastiff!! she's not on any apartment's agressive breed lists, its just finding a place that doesn't have a weight limit thats a problem. All the places I've found the apartment ratings site says are in "the ghetto".. coming from San antonio, I can't imagine the "ghetto" in austin can even compare, but I dont want to take my chances. If anyone knows where I can find a decent two bedroom where I can have my amazing dog, please help me. Thanks in advance! (I need a place on or near the UT shuttle, so way north austin is out!)

  1. when they say "ghetto" in austin, they are probably talking about east austin, around the riverside drive area. man, that area is pretty rough. a lot of student housing is over there and it is definitely not a part of austin i would be in at night. there are always stories of people getting killed in the parking lots and outside the complexes, so living alone is probably not a good idea. and i hate to be negative, but i think you will have a very hard time getting an apartment that will take your dog, too. maybe look into renting a small house with a bit of yard. there are a bunch of bus routes that go all over austin. the UT shuttles are great since they go straight to campus. but as a UT student you ride any bus for free, so you don't necessarily have to be on an orange route. best of luck finding a place, if you are still having difficulty, i would also suggest finding an apartment hunter that can help you find what meets your needs and is in your budget.
