- Well, your question is sort of hard to answer because there are many factors that would affect the price of accommodation in Sweden. Do you want your own apartment? Do you want your own bathroom/kitchen? How many square meters? Etc ... In general, student accommodation will be cheaper, but it usually amounts to a room that can barely house a bed and a desk, and little more (you must also be a student at an approved college). You can search for available rooms for rent at www.hemnet.se ... this is the most comprehensive listing of rentals in the country, but it is only in Swedish. What you are looking for is called "Hyres," in Swedish or "rental." The listings are divided by "län" (province) and "kommun" (city/municipality). Typically an average apartment will be two to three rooms with one bathroom, and a kitchen -- somewhere in the range of 50-80 square meters. Normal rent would be anywhere from 4,000 SEK (425€) to 5500 SEK (585€). Rent will be dependent upon how large the apartment is, how new it is, and where it is located. For instance, a 40 sq. meter apartment in downtown Stockholm could easily be 6,000 SEK a month, while the same apartment in Örebro could be 3,500 SEK. When I lived in Linköping I paid 4,970 SEK (529€) per month for a fourth-story 62 sq. meter apartment five blocks from campus. And, when I lived in Uppsala I paid 4,250 SEK (452€) per month for a second-story 71 sq. meter apartment four blocks from the train station.
