how much math is involved in becoming a medical assistant?
I just recently started going to Western Career College for Medical Assisting. There seems to be so much math involved, and that is my week spot. How much math do I need to know to become a certified medical assistant?

- very little = just the basics!!!
- You will need to be able to accurately calculate drug doses; the math they are using in school is probably pretty close to what you will need.
- I would think that basic math is a requirement. One may wish to reconsider the program if it's a lot of money as there aren't supposed to be too many jobs for the MA (or medical biller or coder) despite what those private $$ schools proclaim :) There are more affordable programs such as though the county vo-tech school or community college if still wanting to get the training. For general career info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search 'medical assistants' or such. Here's a website where MA grads have posted about having difficulty finding work: http://www.indeed.com and can click 'forums' and then type into search. I realize that you're in the MA program, however, I thought that you may want to see this video clip on youtube about the ultrasound students that are suing western career college over the education not being up to standards: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKqa9VcxG2E&NR=1
