What career should I pursue that will accept my indiviuality?
I want to have a career where my individuality wont be a problem. I have many piercings and tattoo's and I dye my hair crazy colors. thats the thing i realize i wont be respected in business careers but that doesn't matter cause its never been what I've wanted. I want to go into culinary, or stage management. I'm even considering becoming a piercer.

- there is no such work place. companies and employers enjoy it tremendously that they can control us.
- I was almost in the same boat, but then someone talked me out of dying my hair a more blatant purple (it was kind of brownish unless you really looked at it). The first thing that comes to mind is a tatoo artist. I think that would be cool. You could also be a studio artist or anything to do w/ art. A freelance photographer might be exciting if you got to travel. You could probably also work as a bartender, but I don't know if you'd want to do that. . . You could. . . hmmm . . . .be an interior designer, maybe. What do you want to be?
- You could work in a massage parlor or in the porn industry. Aside from those, you're probably out of luck. You'll need to conform to the norms of society if you want to succeed.
- I guess go work for a tattoo store, or a rock band or something like that. For me as a business owner I can tell you that I LAUGH at people like you who think that I would hire them... even if I were willing to accept you, a lot of my CUSTOMERS would not, so I WOULD NOT HIRE YOU..too bad for you!!
- Idk... Probably writing or beauty(like hair stylist,etc.). There aren't many palces like that. Or maybe video game companys...
- You may want to be an 'entrepreneur' and be self-employed - creating your own career. Find your passion. Find a way to connect your passion with serving others. Build a business/career serving others doing something you are passionate about. Best wishes and good luck.
- Any career you want. What kind of things are you good at? Don't let " the man " keep you down. Individuality is what drives the world. If we were all the same nothing would be worth it. You can always be your own boss, and have a business in what your into. Don't change for anybody. Think about it. If all the great people in history listened to peoples criticism then they would never have been great. If you would like help doing a business: www.score.org.
- Most 'punks', no matter how hardcore they are, don't dye their hair crazy colors and give themselves piercings by the time they hit 30. rather than rely on external validation of your individuality, think about how really 'individual' or distinguished you are from the mainstream if your clothing was the same as everyone else's. Are you really *that* different or is it just your outside?
- I work in accounting, at a small, but well established firm, that handles bookkeeping, financial planning, business consulting, tax planning, investments, and multi-million dollar real estate deals. And I must tell you, I rock a Mohawk, with fire truck red tips (or sometimes, I just pick out my afro)!!! I have a tongue ring, and more then a few tattoos. Basically I'm saying, DO NOT CONFORM!!!! YES, I had to go to a million interviews before I was offered a position. YES I got a lot a strange looks, and wasn't taken seriously, and YES I have a job that I really enjoy, where I am respected, and where hard work is appreciated!!! You may have to work a little longer, and a little harder to gain respect from our clients, but I love what I do, and I'm good at it! But you know what, I love ME more!!!. Don't loose yourself, trying to find a job, its not worth it! Do what you love, and stay true to who you are! It will work out!
- in the end you have to do what you like. The best way to find out is to take career aptitude tests like this one http://gsx1.com/freeaptitest.htm and i they'll tell you what suits your own personality, based on the test you took. there might be a few more tests here http://www.job--listings.info/ hope I helped, cheers
