Does this make you want to stop giving to Salvation Army bell ringers?

A man, who for many years, has been an officer for the Salvation Army is facing possibility of being booted for planning to marry a woman who is not a part the group. They seem to have a rule stating that officers may only marry within their group. What's more is all of his possessions--even his house--are owned by the S. Army and they are threatening to repossess it all if he doesn't break off the engagement. I understand rules are rules and the guy must adhere to them, but what is up with that rule in the first place? And the repossession to make him homeless--isn't that the opposite of the S. Army mission? I will never donate money to them again because of this. for those wanting a link to prove legitimacy to the story: http://www.google.com/search?q=salvation+army+marriage&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

  1. You shouldn't take your annoyance with something like that out on the poor people that benefit GREATLY from the Salvation Army. I say put that into snopes.com and see if it is really true.
  2. that seems weird. are you sure this is true?
  3. can you provide a link for this story please.
  4. The officer knew the rules when he signed on. I may not like their rules but......oh well.
  5. are you sure that's true??? that sounds kinda fake.
  6. No.They do good works regardless of the persons own beliefs. There are rules to be obeyed he knew what he would lose by pursuing this relationship.Just like anyone else he made choices, and like everyone else he must live with them.I see nothing wrong with that.Life has consequences
