Does paying high rent for an apartment help in the search for another apartment later?

I have my first apartment and I am paying $1300 a month in rent. (All bills paid.) I've been here for six months, my lease is in a year, and because of my noisy neighbor I want to move. Another apartment I want is around $1300-1400. Will the fact that I paid this rent and maintained it be counted into the screening process at the next apartment? x.x

  1. Have you complained to the landlord about the noisy neighbor? If the landlord doesn't do anything about it, I'd say you have no obligation to stay in that apartment. Take a look at your lease and see if it says anything about what the landlord's obligations are. A lease is a contract- meaning that both sides have obligations, not just you. If you have a job and a good credit history, I doubt you'll have a hard time finding another apartment, since it sounds like you can afford to pay a decent amount for it.
  2. No...the fact that you are breaking your current lease will be counted into the screening process. Count on a bad reference from your current landlord.
