We continue to get sales calls even though we are on the no call list. Most, if not all, seem to be from ?

other countries. Is this the way companies get around the "no call list?"

1. Not Sure. I am getting calls on my cell phone too. And I dont hand out this number to anyone.
2. Most of those telemarketers get their sources on yellow pages and directory online..So even if you are on the Do Not Call List, they still find ways to call to make sales...
3. yes there is a number you can call, where you register your phone number, and after 30 days, telemarketers are not allowed to call you. If they do, i think you can file a law suit or something like that. You can do this for a house or cell phone.. Do Not Call Registry 1-888-382-1222 make sure you call from the number you want to register.
4. they will find ways around that. maybe someone has your number and is giving your information on forms online or other places.
5. Me too. I heard they don't look up your number but a computer just dials at random your area code, city numbers and then a random 4 digit combination. I wish it was the lottery. I would be millionaire several times over. BTW do not call lists do not work. Too many loopholes. I worked for a bank and we always had to make sales calls. We never once were issued a do not call list. The excuse, we are allowed to call our customers with sales pitches. Do not call lists do not cover this.
6. i always get calls, and i am on like four no-call lists. it is almost like the more you try not to be contacted, the more they contact you. it's unfortunate.
7. Most of them just don't care. American authorities are concentrating their resources on terrorism. There have only been a few prosecutions against people who use the telephone to spam. The scammers have learned how to "spoof" the phone system and make another number show up on your Caller ID. I think the phone company could stop this in one day but they don't seem to care. Some people hire private investigators to find out who is calling. Others use the police and actually get results.
