  1. Most cruise lines have a pretty fixed agenda on hiring crew. For example, most of Holland America's officers and sailors are Dutch and most of Princess has English officers and Italian sailors. But a cruise ship is also divided into several 'departments', and further yet by sub-contractors who run them, except for the hotel and shore excursion departments. The best way is to find out who runs what, and this will take some Google Time. For instance, there will be one company who runs the casino on all Holland America ships, one who runs all the gift shops and duty frees, etc. They hire their own staff. Ship's entertainers are always hired exclusively through booking agents, and many cruise lines draw from agencies in Vancouver BC (that doesn't mean you need to be Canadian) or Los Angeles. Ship's more 'visible' crew members (servers, bar staff, attendants etc) are generally a product of the cruise lines' own training schools -- largely in the Philippines. For 'hotel' staff (front desk, pursers dept, shore excursions etc) you need to search each cruise line for 'job opportunities. Good luck!
  2. Virtually everything. Waiter, Hostess, Busboy, Chef, Maid, Cleaning Crew, Actor, Comedian, Entertainment Director, Singer, Musician, Casino Worker, Babysitter, Kids Club worker (work with the kids in specified age group; 5-8, 9-12, 13-15, 16+), Spa worker, fitness instructor, plus a few other miscilanious ones. Hope this helps!!!
