Real Estate Agents for finding Apartments/Townhomes?

I have heard a lot of cities offer this service and my husband and I are moving to Birmingham AL in 4 months and are looking for a townhome in the right part of town. I know about Craigslist, Apartments.com, Rent.com, and have an apt finder magazine. I just want to know if anyone knows of any companies in Birmingham that can help us find the townhome we want, for the price and location we are looking for. Thanks

  1. Call a few Realtors in that area and you can get a Realtor to work with you to find rental housing. Rentals are listed on MLS just like houses for sale and a Realtor can help you find what you are looking for. They can also give you insight into the city and schools and all the other factors that you need to look at when relocating. Another factor that you need to consider is foreclosures. Here in Las Vegas if a property owner fails to make his payments, the bank will foreclosure and the renter gets a 5 days notice to move out regardless of having paid the rent and deposits. If a landlord gets foreclosed the odds of getting your deposits back is slim. Also a Realtor will work for you for free. They will get paid a Referral Fee from the property management company who handles the property. If you find the house on your own; your cost to move in and rent there are exactly the same. only difference is that instead of paying the referral fee to the Realtor that assisted you, they pocket it for themselves.
