I am a 34 year old single female relocating to San Diego. Any suggestions on where to live? ?
I am being transferred and I am unfamiliar with the area. There are so many areas on Craigslist (Mission, PB, Downtown, Fashion Valley, Gaslamp, etc,), that I am not sure where to look. I am a runner and I have a dog. I want to live somewhere that I can really enjoy what San Diego has to offer. I appreciate any help.

- Pacific Beach Next to La Jolla, it's the best place to live in SD. Avoid Ocean Beach. It's where the burnouts, junkies and low life's hang. Mission Beach is where the seasonal summer party crowd live. Fashion Valley is Yuppified. Gaslamp is a nice place to go to get drunk but I wouldn't live there. TIP: I lived in PB and La Jolla for years. Most of the best rental deals are not advertised. Places at the beach go so fast, people just post a sign. If you have the time, drive around the neighborhoods and see what you can find.
- Great Places to Run : Most of the beaches, so.. Mission and Pacific Beach La Jolla and most of the North County Beaches Balboa Park / Morley Field, so.. South Park Bankers Hill North Park (south of University) Hillcrest - has one of the best run clubs in town. (these areas also have most of the best dog parks) If you can afford it Coronado super dog beach, fabulous area, great for running
- Where will you be working, as that will narrow down your choice of neighborhoods. Traffic can be horrendous so your commute should be taken into account.
- You've gotten great suggestions already. Follow them and you'll do well and will enjoy San Diego as it should be enjoyed. (The wrong way to enjoy San Diego is to try and cheap out and live in one of the inland suburbs). I might add that if Del Mar is within your commuting distance, there is a wonderful dog beach with tidepools, cliffs, and just great scenery. It's a fairly long run and is great for exercising your dog (and yourself).
