How long should it take to get on post housing at Fort Bliss?
My husband is stationed on Fort Bliss and I will be moving there shortly. He is currently living in barracks and soon he will be applying for on post housing. How long does it usually take for E-3's to get an on post house?

- between 6 months to a year wait!
- It might take up to year...especially if he enjoys Dyer St. & Juarez, Mexico.
- I do not know about Housing on base but you can get apartments there for reasonable rates, Housing in El Paso is very cheap compared to the rest of the country. I never did Army time there. I did the Marty Robbins thing and fell for a 4'10.5" ball of fire while working there. I always enjoyed the town. There are plenty of things to do no matter what others tell you. The base was not the prettiest I have seen but that was 16 years ago. Look on the west side, eat at Leo's it's MMMMM good. Caro is a freak for Tito's Taco's. It's a funky old place that serves taco's in broth. Learn how to 2 step and enjoy. We went to Carlsbad (Caverns. You can watch the bats fly out during the summer), White Sands (sledding on the sand dunes), Mesilla NM (Gadsen Purchase, Billy the Kid. tourist area), Silver City NM (Billy the Kid, Indian ruins). Demming NM has duck races, I forget what month) Roswell NM could be a weekend trip The trolley into Juarez can be fun. They have a minor league baseball team. People were friendly. - It depends on the base. There really is no clear way to tell. When i first got to Ft. Bragg, it was going to take me amost a year t get post housing. My wife applied the begining of february while i was in iraq and was in a house on 27 feb due to the entire 82d being deployed and most of the families going back home. It basically depends how many other E5 and below are on the list before you an your husband and if you are applying for a specific neighborhood. You should be able to go on the Ft Bliss website and go to te housing seco ad find a current list of wait times for each neighborhood. Hope this helps
- I have been stationed there and I am getting ready to go back in 3 weeks. When I left, they were building all new housing and it seems to be that they are now ready for people to move in. They just updated the web page yesterday with new housing info. Check out the link below to see how it looks for you.
- depends on how many kids you have and what the waiting list is for his paygrade and BR entitlement. the waitlist can be anywhere from a week to over two years long.
