I currently live in Buffalo New york. There is nothing out here really. Here is a bio of me: I am 22 I am also a structural engineer so ill be making around 42,000 a year I would like to know if there would be good nightlife out there. Also what is the cost of living with apartments ect. I tried Criags list and everything and I am not so sure where is a good neighboor hood to live. This is possible employment for me: Tucson Area Office 7493 North Oracle Road I would like to live around that area and everything. So would this be worh moving out here.

- I grew up in Tucson from from elementary school up to college when I attended the UofA. It's definitely a college town, so as a 22 year old you can still find things to do around the university. But don't expect any fancy night clubs or lounges, it's mostly college bars and clubs with the usual frat guys or indie kids hanging around (depending on which venue). But the downside to this is that during the winter/summer breaks, the nightlife is pretty much dead since all the college kids go back home. As for neighborhoods, the north side (where your office is located) is always going to be nicer/safer/newer than most areas, however the east side has new neighborhoods being built, so it's a bit better there than it used to be (but this will be far from your workplace). With your salary, I'm sure you can find a decent apartment to live in, or roommate in a house with some people in the northside. The cost of living in AZ is much lower than NY, I would imagine. A bonus is if you're into outdoors activities, Tucson is a great place for that and really caters to people who enjoy nature (national parks that are great for hiking, and even skiing during winter!) Overall, Tucson is a relaxed city with a small town feel where you can have fun but don't expect too much excitement. As a young professional, you can easily mix in with the college crowd if you're looking for fun. It's also very cheap place to live so you can easily save up money. Hope this helps you with your decision to move!
- My in-laws all live in Tucson and I have visited too many times to count. It is a major metropolitan area with the same problems as you see in any major city. There are good points and bad points. The main downside is the proximity to Mexico. Tucson has a bad rep for drugs, and the murder rate is abnormally high for the population. It has a lot of the same issues a border town would see even though it is a ways from the border still. The murders are almost all drug related and on the south side. Clean fresh air, wide open spaces, and, believe it or not, a local mountain with SNOW in the winter with a Ski resort. Mt lemon at over 9000 ft in elevation looks like a colorado ski town and is only 30 minutes from downtown. Go for a visit and check it out. Very much a cowboy style town still. Just stay away from the south side and anywhere that looks like a haven for illegal mexicans and drugs. Good luck.
