A goal I'm excited about, but doubt if I'm ever going to achieve it?
Bout 5 or 10 years from now, I would like to become a radio deejay/program director (playing my own songs at a funk/soul station) (I like older music) Become a manager at a local record store and deejay at a bar/club/cafe once a night every week.... and just make good money doing something that I love doing... But I feel that I'm asking for too much...I certainly would love this lifestyle.... just don't want to come off as unrealistic. I work at UPS and there's this full time sup that's an asshole! I hate him and I hate working at UPS. I just want to get out of that hell hole and focus on my dream job...my career. Is there anyway I can accomplish all of those goals I just mentioned? Is it too late? (I'm 24 and haven't deejayed yet)

- No, it's not too late, and this is doable. Here are a few ideas: I would start with the club DJ idea first. This would give you a chance to see if you like doing it. Another take on this is to be a mobile DJ working for yourself, doing birthday parties, graduations, and similar events. It will take a while to become a program director if you have no experience, so you might try looking for part-time/weekend air shifts at your radio station(s) of choice. These aren't as easy to come by as they once were, as computers have taken over a lot of the former shifts once held by beginners. I would do these jobs on the side until you begin to earn enough to replace your UPS income. I've done radio since I was 19-ish and your goals are not unrealistic. The secret to making it in radio or as a DJ is patience and tons of persistence. I wish you the best, and feel free to email me if you have other questions.
