Chicago/New York Apartments on Craigslist - why are there so many so cheap?
What's the catch? I'm looking to move to one of those two cities and there are all these apartments listed on Craigslist that are REALLY inexpensive. From anyone who might know, what's the catch?

- For Chicago: 1. So many people are buying houses in Chicago nowadays that they don't need to be so expensive. 2. A LOT of people are getting liquidated in Chitown as well...
- They could be scams or really junky drug infested places no one wants to live. You get what you pay for. I've learned in renting places its better to pay a little more and get someplace save than some cheap dirty place.
- 1. scams 2. out of the way run down units 3. Scams 4. Roommate situation with whacked out roommate 5. Scam
- Really easy scams dude. Either they are showing you someone else's apartment, or they are about to be evicted and will take your money and use it to get another apt. When you show to move in he/she is already gone. Read about all the scams at http://www.howtobeatcraigslist.uni.cc and you'll know better.
